thanks for those charirty suggestions, will check them both out.
work is a no-no,its not a hospital scenario, where you can turn up/swap shifts etc.
wanttobese - when my son goes to his dad for xmas he has dad, step mum,two sets grandparents,4 lots of aunties and uncles,7 cousins etc.all fun and hustle bustle.
he doesn't have that here.
yes,we would have a lovely day,but he wants to go there,so i can't stand in his way.LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -

i usually relish a bit of time to myself, and its only one day for goodness sake.its just its a time when you should feel thankful for your family etc.
i'm really struggling with how I feel about my family at the moment.
I wouldn't let any of them feel lonely.
Talk to them.
If they're normally good people that you get on with and love then I'm sure they'd want you to tell them the truth.
Maybe they're all assuming that somebody else has invited you this year and don't realise you'll be alone?0 -

Have you had a conversation about it? Do you normally have a good relationship?
If things are normally ok, I think its within reason to say to them "I'm feeling unwanted and sad that none of you have asked me over on Christmas Day so I have to spend it alone. Was it something I said?"0 -
(((Asparagus))), I just wanted to say you are a Mum and a half! I'll be thinking of you on Christmas Day.
Wishing you a relaxing day of peace, doing as little or as much as you choose. If you do select a charity to work with on the day, they are very lucky to have you there!0 -
You know, we've had nearly 3 months of 'happy family' Christmas adverts and programmes pushed at us now. It's a fact that there are more divorces and arguments at Christmas than at any other time - probably because we put so much emphasis on this 'happy family' scenario, that if it doesn't happen then we are dissatisfied and angry.
Me, I'll have one of my daughters with me, but at one point thought I might have been on my own. Initially I felt a bit sad, but after a bit of a think about it I thought that really, as I'm not religious, it's only going to be like another quiet weekend day. So if I don't get upset spending a Sunday or Bank Holiday on my own, why should I bother about Christmas Day?
I'm sure you'll be fine OP. Remember that these days, most of Christmas Day is about the power of advertising!!0 -
Not alot to say but hugs to you Asparagus x xDivorce all finished- now to start saving for a better future!0

Very very unselfish of you to let your son do this.
Very very selfish of your sister and her husband. They should be ashamed of themselves if they know you are on your own.
Hugs to you and hope you enjoy your day, what ever you do.
Anniemake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Good on you for doing the right thing for your son, you sound like a wonderful mum.
Charity work on the day is a great idea or if you do end up spending the day on your own, relish it as a time to spend on yourself, doing things that you like to do. Listen to the music you like, have a soak in the bath with lots of bubbles and a glass of bubbly. Watch all those old films, read a good book.0 -
If you are a nurse could you do bank or agency work for the day....... But as the Mum of a son with Aspergers why not have an utterly me day if that is what you want.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0
