What are your OS New Years Resolutions

Mine are a mix of things I can get stuck in to and some which will have to wait due to needing a job!
1. Learn to use my sewing machine much better -not a problem here, bf's mum will be helping with this one as she is a whizz and got me a Cath Kidson book of projects with patterns for Christmas
2. Continue to meal plan (including the occassional treat) and once I have a job add lunches and snacks to it so I'm not worried about what to eat at those times!
3. Finish losing weight with SW so I don't have to pay my weekly fee any more (should actually make it by the time my pre-paid sessions run out in a few weeks!) and maintain the weightloss!
4. Save for Christmas a birthdays year round. Once I have a job it will be £5 a week for 50weeks for Christmas (total £250- for gifts mostly but also some food and drink), £10 per month for birthday presents (I don't actually have many to buy and the surplus will be put towards trips etc)
5. we have a lot of travelling to do this year to tournaments etc so once I am able to I will be saving a regular amount towards my share of this. Not sure on a figure yet
6. If possible over pay on my PCDL at the end of the year - any little overpayment will be a massive help and will ease my worries over paying it off asap!
I think that's more than enough to be working on for now!************************************
Oct 2025 Grocery Challenge: £244/£3000 -
1) just DO IT, whatever "it" is. No more procrastination.
2) stop hoarding things just in case thy might come in useful, or because I spent money on them. No matter what they cost, the cash is already spent and perhaps if these rogue items leave the house I stand a better chance of not brooding on earlier mistakes
Couldn't have said it better myself.
3) Also: Stick to the Grocery Challenge Budget.
4) Cut out alcohol completely one night a week in January, two nights a week in Feburary and three nights a week in March. Review it on my birthday and think about a way forward.
5) Cut out red wine completely during Lent.
6) Meal plan, meal plan, meal plan. (Never, ever go into a supermarket without a list, taken from a meal plan.)Better is good enough.0 -
The sad thing is, my resolutions tend to roll over from year to year!
Nonetheless there is always the hope that THIS year I will succeed!
So:
1) more weight lost - not by drastic or expensive means, but by portion control and sensible eating
2) Maintain the currently increased levels of exercise - DH not well, so I am now responsible for exercising the dogs, and it's doing me good!
3) maintain my housework routine and gradually get the house looking reasonable most of the time
4) More use of sewing machine and overlocker - my material stash is huge, having been gathered over many years
5) Watch those pennies - try to not waste money....Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
Mine are:
1. Lose more weight and keep it off!
2. Do this by only eating healthy snacks!
3. Exercise more including going back to swimming, walking the dog for longer- sorry Honey!
4. Stop wasting time and putting off doing all the horrible jobs - I feel so much better now I've filed DH tax return!
5. Stick to the grocery challenge and get monthly spend down to £200.
6.Stick to savings challenge and save £3600 and even more if I get the grocery bill down.
7. Start crafting again and finally learn to crochet. My secret fantasy is having 2 men....
1 cooking and 1 cleaning.0 -
1. Save £9k- this will be a stretch but should be do-able
2. Grocery budget & stick to it!
3. Work one Saturday a month for overtime money (if it is offered that is!)
4. Lunch box to work at least 4 days a week
5. No more than one skinny latte from work coffee shop a week- my thermos rocks and I can have flavoured coffee for a few weeks for the cost of 2-3 lattes!
6. Experiment with more bread making instead of sweet baking.
7. Make the owl kit I bought 2 years ago and make 1 craft thing a month!
8. Use up the 3 boxes of toiletries under the bed & make an effort with hair/nails/face 3x a week!
9. Lose 1 1/2 stone; Was really enjoying workput routine and my gym (£17.99 a month) but striggled to go since Mexico (November). I feel happier, more energetic & more confident when attending the gym!
10. Entertain more at our apartment rather than going out, or if going out have a few at home before going out later= save more pennies!First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -

Hi everyone
Good luck with your New Year Resolutions
Mine are
Menu plan (making sure I take into account when I am working so that food is simple and quick on those days)
Stick to a budget
Lose that last stone ( plus the bit I have gained over Xmas)
Walk more ( I have slipped into using the bus more recently)
Clear my credit card as soon as possible
Make regular payments into my savings
Don't buy things unless I need them ( I have plenty of clothes so no buying new unless desperately needed)
Sell or charity shop unwanted clutter
Bake and bulk cook more
Cut down on electricity and gas use
I might think of more yet but this is a start
