What are your OS New Years Resolutions
Comments
-
My OS resolutions are
- pay off mortgage - scheduled for Sept 2013
- get craft business going.
- not to waste anything
- shop for children, OH and me from charity shops
- make all Christmas and birthday presents
- sell car number 2 and get a van we can use for business
- reduce electricity and gas usage by 10% (am already very tight with it!!)
- grow as much veg as I can in my postage stamp garden.
Survive!!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Another one to add to my previous post is:
see how long I can go without buying clothes!
I was having a clearout at the weekend and I have way too many tops/t-shirts! Work clothes are suits, which I add a new one to each year and then rotate, so I am thinking maybe I can go quite a few months before I 'need' anything ;-)2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0 -
Ooh, I love this idea!
So, for me:
- Continue home cooking and meal planning
- Make more bread, try and wean DH off that awful white stuff he eats!
- Not waste food - make sure things are used up before they go off
- Try and do more batch cooking, so that we still have a lovely home cooked meal even when I can't be bothered to cook
- Continue putting some savings into the emergency fund.
- Be more content with what we do have, not worried about what we don't
- Continue trying to eat more healthily and incorporate more exercise into my weekly routine
- Be happy!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I love these threads- in a minute i'm going to look back through the previous resolution threads and see what i've stuck to!
1. Cut the food bill down, better meal planning and shopping around. I have the time to do it, energy and inclination is another thing some days!
2. Declutter the house, do a huge car boot to get rid of stuff and raise some funds for DD2's bedroom. Cannot face much longer of being hit/kicked/scalped during the night so co-sleeping is gonna have to stop earlier than planned!
3. Put some money aside ready for DD1 starting grammar school next Sept - uniform and trips are  money-wise
4. Improve my sewing skills, mainly hampered by actually having time to do it but DD2 will go to pre-school 2 mornings a week from April so i plan to have a sewing morning each week.
5. Try and enjoy life more. I suffer from depression and anxiety but i'm slowly clawing my way back to normal after a tough few years. Mainly i aim to get more pleasure out of time with my kids, instead of focusing on the stresses of family life

I think my main one is going to have to be:-
1. Meal Plan. At least make a determined effort. I'm sick of wondering all day what the heck to cook.
DH's inheritance should come through early next year - it's 'only' 18 months since his mum died, but it's taken an age for probate in South Africa. I suppose we should be grateful it's not another 18 months. Anyway, we hope that there will be enough to buy a house, and if so I'd like to have a garden and start growing some veg. Hopefully if we do get a house it won't be so draughty so we can save money on heating in winter - in this house even with the heating on it's still cold.0 -
Same as ever, not to make any NY resolutions. Spent too many years when I was younger beating myself up for letting my plans fade after a couple of months, or not getting them off the ground at all! I've now got a bucket list I'm working my way through with no time limits, what I don't achieve won't kill me, what I do is a bonus0

My New Years' Resolutions are more like guidelines, really. To live, love, enjoy things and save money.
And to take more opportunities where I can afford to do so.

What a great thread.
Most people's New Years resolutions mirror my own.
1. Keep a spends diary - there is too much wasted money and no savingsWe would like baby number 2 so this takes some planning!
2. Lose weight and exercise more - I have a minor operation next week. My specific aim is 3 stones and run a 10k by my holiday in ;une
3. Tackle my committment issues to being more OSSW member: 09/01/2014

I love these type of threads. I always make too many resolutions and then can't stick to them all (obvious really!) I like your way of thinking sparrer.
Ok so main aims for next year then:
Exercise more - specifically walk more (bonus: being greener/save petrol costs) and do some regular exercise at home. Hopefully will be enough to shed a stone or two without dieting (wishful thinking maybe) or attending expensive classes etc.
Continue with the de-cluttering/hoarding I started recently. Have a long way to go yet but think next year's the year.
Several more but resisting the urge to even think about them much until I get to grips with the these two. Everything should be easier if I am fitter/have more energy and if the house is not cluttered.
Also to continue with the cooking from scratch/baking - just increase quantity and variety.
Lastly start an OS hobby I enjoy - thinking of sewing as currently only sew to repair stuff. Lately taken to borrowing library books on sewing projects just to look at.I used to do the same with receipe books and eventually started cooking so hoping the same will happen!

Well I've a number of OS resolutions:
1. Save every single penny I can, no matter what spends I need.
2. Try to take up a fulfilling and frugal hobby, like increase my crocheting for myself.
3. Cut down our food bill seeing as OH has been let go in his job.
4. Enjoy the finer things in life, like taking walks when the weather gets better and getting the most our of my doggies!
5. Living better and reducing my weight so I can eventually start a family!094 Sealed pot member! (7) €185 (8) €138 (9) €€250
