So sorry to hear about the interview Tete. You are made of strong stuff though, and you will achieve whatever you want in the end though.

The !!!!!!s Tete, I'm cross for you. If it's any consolation one of my closest friends was rejected from Northumbria for her PGCE (I know yours is slightly different), she had enough experience and had just finished her undergrad there. She applied again in her hometown, got straight on the course, walked straight into a job 4 months ago and just aced her first Ofsted. Maybe they just pick a certain type and that doesn't mean other places aren't looking for other qualities, or that you won't make an awesome teacher. Fingers crossed for your back up choice
ETA: I'm sure that word doesnt merit being starred out!
And yay for the tax refund Dinah x

Oh Tete, so sorry about the interview, it sounds like you would have come across really well to me. Definitely ask for feedback, and just think that you've had a lucky escape as the next uni to interview you will be better.
I'm trying to tell myself that as my interview on Tuesday is with my first choice (due to location and 'prestige') but deep down I think I'd rather go to my second choice as whilst on icy days I'd be useless getting around campus as it's very hilly and there are no handrails, it was a very friendly place with lots of lovely lecturers at the open day, rather than the grumpy, self-important and self-opinionated person at the first choice's open half-hour!
Thanks for your lovely email, I'm reading it now x0 -
Happy Birthday Dinah! Hope you have a lovely day.
Just having a quick (!) catch up as my internet is up and running again. I will join in the Feb challenge a little later in the month as my craft stuff is still inhabiting various boxes in the garage. Unless painting and decorating counts, in which case I am waaaaay ahead!
Tete, I'm really gutted for you about the interview, I had a really good feeling for you, which must mean that a better route is waiting for you. Would you be able to work as a TA for a year/six months and reapply or would the salary not be enough? I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Good luck for Tuesday Kittikins!
I'm back at work on Tuesday and really dreading italthough I'm sure once I'm back in the routine it won't be too bad. The house is coming along slowly, the rewiring and plastering is done now so there is only really painting to do. I can't wait to have everything unpacked! Its driving me crazy!
I had lots more to say but just reading through took me half an hour and I've forgotten lots of it
Hope your OH's job situation works out Ruby, and glad to hear things are better between you. Its so hard watching someone you love be unhappy, and when they bottle it up and take it out on you it makes it all the more sucky(also speaking from experience here) I wish blokes would just come home, have a good blub and then splurge on online shoe shopping to cheer themselves up like normal people!

Happy birthday Dinah!! Hope NIM and Gracie are spoiling you
Thanks for all your lovely comment peeps, nice to know I have a little cheering squad! (Archers I'm intrigued about what your swear was- boogers?) I'll see if my second choice offers me an interview and then maybe look at clearing. I had thought about TA-ing because goodness knows I'm dying to leave this job, but the pay isn't great. I knew it wasn't great but a quick internet search suggests it comes out at less than £6,000 at most after part time hours and not being paid for the holidays are taken into account. It's just not enough, particularly as I'd want to be saving for money to live on in the actual study year as well
Kitty, I've responded to your email this morning. Re first and second choices - what will be will be I guess! I'm sure you'll knock their socks off though!! x
Does everyone have lots of crafting planned for the weekend??? I almost wish the snow would come back so I could hibernate with my wool!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Morning Peeps
Hey PoddleWe do a January cookbook challenge, which is to cook 30 new dinners. This year was a bit pants though. We had already gone through our cookbooks and picked the best recipes so were left with all the naff ones, lol. It's a really cool challenge normally - you'll have to tell us what recipes you're trying. The winner this year was a bearnaise sauce - so many calories though!!!
I'd love to see your wedding pics, do you have any online?
Good luck for your interview Kittikins
Yay for the tax rebate Dinah!!!
Shrimpy, it's great to hear the house is progressing so well. It's sooo exciting!
Speaking of shoe shopping - some lovely purple leather converse should be winging their way to me as we speak! For a bargain £30 on the Schuh outlet store..
Tete glad to hear there's a second choice on the cards. Are you also looking for other jobs too?
I didn't get my words done yesterday so better get on it today.

Happy Birthday Dinah!
Enjoy your day. Hope you're well spoilt, you deserve it!
I'm hoping to get lots of lovely crafting done this weekend but I know things will probably crop up to stop me! Want to get my v-Day cards made so I can start selling them next week (although knowing most of the men I work with they won't be buying any until the 12th!). Going to make a little batch for my Mum to take to work too. OH is off to rugby tomorrow afternoon so I plan to crack on then.
I'm also trying to think of something to make for my Mum's birthday in 3 weeks but drawing a blank!
Hope your return to work is OK Shrimpy. Its always a little daunting to go back after some time off but sadly by the end of the week you'll feel like you've never been away! When do you think the house will be finished/unpacked? Can you add that into your challenge to have it done by the end of the month?!
LOL at the 'buying shoes like normal people' comment! OH doesn't really understand how that can make such a difference to my mood! His version of comfort shopping is a chocolate bar from the corner shop... much more purse friendly!
Bit of a rubbish job situation Tete, I looked into being a TA a few years back and was appalled by how bad the pay was! Shame that the experience would be great for your application but it's not enough to live on! Would it be possible to find another job to fit around it? Or sign up to an agency to do temp work during school holidays?
Hope you manage to get all your words written today Lara! Better to do it today so you can enjoy your weekend!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0
