You know the famous rubber chicken on the old style moneysaving boards? Sometimes it really feels like I do that with money, I never know how, but somehow I always manage to balance things so we pull through. On the one hand I'd love love love not to have to do that, and just be able to pay all the bills easily with no juggling required, on the other I reacon we'd be no better off really as without rubber money and just normal squished up money we'd still pay all the bills like now, but it wouldn't need to be pulled to go further so we'd just still have the same standard of living? Does that make the blindest bit of sense?!
I've just been catching up on the last few months.....you could do all of the above, if you didn't go on any holidays.........I have dropped to 3 days a week, we sat down and worked out that this was far more important than holidays to us........you have already stressed over leaving Grace, so this would be a great compromise for you. Its all about working out whats more important to you xx

Hope Grace is feeling better, poor thing. It's horrible seeing babies ill and not being able to do anything to take it away.
Birdie your friends are unbelievable! If you can't go in angry then I agree with using the guilt trip!
Happy Birthday for yesterday Poolie
CMD that's great that you're having a good month! Good luck with the drums though, hopefully they'll be listed and sold soon!
Congratulations on your anniversary and intro feedback Lara. That restaurant sounds awesome! I wanna eat at the Fat Duck when I'm not paying off everyone and everything!
Cinny how tall is your OH? Mine is 6'3" and we stupidly booked economy coming home and it was the worst flight ever. Sri Lankan airways suck. It's the tiniest long haul seats I've ever seen, and OH had no leg room. There was a man in front and when he tried to put his seat back it was blocked by OH's knees. Instead of being all like 'oops, sorry I'm hitting your knees' he just started ramming his seat using all his body weight. OH couldn't have gone back anymore and was getting more angry and in pain. He asked the flight attendant to ask the man if they could compromise by having the seat halfway but she said she 'couldn't ask him to sacrifice his comfort'. What about OH's comfort?! Apparently he could put his seat back too (helpful..) but it wouldn't make any difference to where his legs were. If he put them in the aisle he was blocking their trolley (he got hit several times and was not a happy bunny..). After asking the man politely if he could just put his seat up a tiny bit, not the whole way, he just kept repeating 'no, I need to rest'. OH was getting really agitated and because he's epileptic I was stressing that he was gonna have a fit. I asked the flight attendant if there was a medic on board just in case and straight away she asked the man to put his seat up a bit. If I had known that was the magic word I'd have said it long before.. She kept giving OH filthy looks though and apologising to the man. The couple opposite were sympathetic which was nice cuz I was a bit embarrassed by all the fuss!
Ooh proper rant, sorry! We sound like nightmare passengers but the moral of the story is, always book economy with leg room for long haul flights if you're a giant.

Well done on the positive feedback Lara! :T That restaurant sounds fab! I'm always a bit wary of places like that though as the portions look so tiny that I fear I'll be paying twice as much money for half as much food and will still come out feeling peckish!
I'm clearly not a fancy foam and dehydrated shavings kind of girl!
Hope the kitty's OK Dinah!
Shame your friend couldn't come round last night, I can't really blame her though; I'm so scared of catching sickness bugs that I stay well away from anyone with even a hint of it.I also go off on one when someone comes into work saying that they've been up all night with it... how kind of them to share their germs with the rest of us!
How's Grace today?
That sounds like a total nightmare flight Zig! Your poor OH! I'd have written a strongly worded letter to the CEO to complain about the treatment he received (but then I love a good strongly worded letter, even if nothing comes of it I feel better having written to them!). It's at times like this that OH is happy that he's only 5'9!
Cancelled the lodge yesterday and thankfully the lady only charged me £25 to do so (wonder if the scary cancellation policy is to put people off as it also stated I'd have to send a 1st class confirmation in writing that I'm cancelling!). Feel a bit better about that and will put the other £15 in the MM pot.Not telling the others about that though, as far as they're concerned I'm £40 down and Not A Happy Girl.

Hey hon. At the moment I have enough annual leave to go back to work 2 days a week but on full time wages until the end of January 2014, at which point it's likely I'll go half time. We can't afford for me to quit entirely and have any kind of life at all (forget holidays, we couldn't ever, ever afford to meet a friend for coffee) but going half time is entirely possible. I've also been working for my dad's company from home lately, if he wasn't in the early start up phase I'd have earned about £360 in the first month (we've agreed to a work now pay later deal), so I'm hoping that keeps on growing too.zigmeister wrote: »Hope Grace is feeling better, poor thing. Rotavirus sounds nasty Dinah but at least you know what it is now and she's drinking well
Good news on the reduced charge Birdie! Definitely don't tell your friends it was cheaper!
Any of you lot watch Grey's Anatomy? I know I'm a million years behind everyone else but I started watching it in the last week of my travels and I'm hooked! I've been watching it non-stop for days (while I do all my sorting out) and I've just started season 4. ANYWAY. My question is, is it just me or is Meredith really irritating?!Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

TPA! I was thinking where were you when I needed you yesterday with my TP question
How's life and your pooches?
Hope Grace is better soon, it sounds awful. Poor bean! Keeping my fingers crossed Pushka is okay too, it can't be a flair up of her old problems could it?
That's horrible about how they treated your OH, Zig!I agree with Birdie, I'd write to them. I'm not sure how tall OH is but he used to have to put his seat way back in my clio, and basically lay down, so his head didn't hit the roof
That resturant sounds amazing, Lara! Just what you needed after how busy you've been (shame it sounds like you're right back to deadlines again though!) Happy Anniversary too
Never watch Greys Anatomy, Zig! But OH and I started watching House and got upto series 8 in about 3 weekends.. waiting for sky to put the 8th on demand so we can download it an carry on0
