I know ... if it keeps up like this then I won't be going - but that will be a total pain in the butt as it means I'll need to try to go next week .... thinking I'm going to be tired enough as it is going back to work.

Yup ... it'll be weird not being on as much - I'm never going to keep up with all the threads I've subscribed to now :(

  • OMG - sorry for changing today's pic of Maisie but
Just had a total :eek::eek: moment

Saw her ID tag was totally in the pic (usually it's off to one side etc) .... went into photo*bucket and realised that if someone zoomed right in .... you can just about make out my address (and sure others are more IT savvy than me and probably could):eek::eek:

    I'll need to remember that!

    Getting prepared .....

So far I have ... just in case - you know how I look to be in control (or end up having total :eek::eek: moments:rotfl:)

    • Lit pilot light on gas fire in case elec goes off (this should really be left on all the time but I rarely use it ... also scared one of the pets manages to move the dial & turn it on when I'm not here ) - I really don't know what idiot made it a sealed unit ... if you can't light it when the leccy's off - what's the point in having it?
    • Charged mobile & found corded phone ;)
    • Charged lappy (although the router wouldn't work so no internet anyway!:()
    • Currently charging huge batteries for big torch (will charge AA & AAA batteries next - but have loads of these anyway :))
    • Checked 99p "lanterns" have batteries in them - they actually give out a good amount of light .... no candles in this house ... far too many legs & tails around:eek:
    • Have changed dinner slightly to chicken casserole (from freezer) & chips (rather than new pots) - means oven is on = warm kitchen but also can keep pots for another day (hob is gas, oven is elec)
    • Extra blanket on bed
    • Cleaned out cats trays ( to trying to do this by torch light!) and filled dry food bowls
    • Brought spare wellies into house (they were in the garage so freezing!) to put into car tomorrow - will take another blanket / sleeping bag if I go to Berwick ... Maisie won't be coming (might actually go over to next door & leave them a spare key .... just in case:eek:
Can anyone think of anything else?

Be careful today rising if you are venturing to Biggar.

That's our favourite stop on the way home from Edinburgh :T Chippy is lovely and all the better eaten in the car, with your fingers, out of the paper :)

  • Morning Rising,

Wow you sound like you have it all sorted out. Thats annoying about the oven pilot light. Can you not light it will a lit taper if the electric has gone off?.

Are power cuts very common up with you. We have a few through the year but they never last for too long.

    Speak later, Steph
  • mmmm looking a bit doubtful atm :(

We had quite a lot of snow last night - honestly there was hardly any, then an hour later I looked out an  and another quite a bad snow shower this morning :(

Mum says they've had another 3-4" overnight (on top of the 4-5" they already had ) so don't think I'll be going to hers .... even if I make it to the garage

Just been looking at the traffic cameras on the A1 and ..... not looking promising TBH - tram tracks in the snow :(

It's sunny now so am going to wait a couple of hours and see what it's like! Hopefully it won't snow anymore & a few people might've been out on the roads by then (any maybe a gritter or two might have gone down the main road)

Really want to go (as obviously want the tyres for the weather being bad) but don't want to go if it's awful .... but have to get to work on Monday

In other news .... Maisie met 3 of her pals in the park this morning and they had great fun chasing each other around in the snow (it was also snowing really heavily at this point) so it left us owners to have a good blether and saved us having to traipse around in it ;) - she's flat out sleeping now so hopefully I'll get some peace & quiet for a while!

Hope you're all safe and warm .....

Sorry Freeby - unfortunately I'm venturing south of the border to Berwick :o

Sorry Steph - it's the gas fire:o..... unfortunately the whole of the front unit (where you'd need to light it) has a glass panel fitted to it (rather than being open as I've seen some) - very frustrating & goodness knows why someone would even design it this way?

Thankfully power cuts (crossing everything as I say this!) aren't as bad now (we used to get lots).... it's just it's the only form of heating I have if there is no elec so like it to be ready ... just in case!:o
