It's def going to be one of "those" days - just heard the most horrific yeowling / hissing / screaming coming from the lounge ..... wee cat's going absolutely NUTS ..... there's a ginger & white cat climbing along my fence
She goes into almost a different world and nothing gets through to her - she'll hiss / growl at me - it's like she's in some sort of trance & doesn't know it's me IYKWIM
Fingers crossed big cat stays out the way as she'd go for him in that mood and then I'd have a load of bother .... actually might just close the lounge door until she's calmed down!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

:rotfl:What a day you are having!
Back to bed for an hour, get up again and make a fresh start! Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
Hello Rising, :hello:
Just delurking to suggest a cheaper alternative to buying new parts for your TD; a dehumidifier. Put it next to the drying rack and marvel at how much water it sucks out of the clothes.. Costs peanuts to run [mine's on a timer half hour on, ditto off - to preserve the motor] and I find 24 hours is sufficient to get to airing-cupboard stage, less if the washing is destined to be ironed.
You might get a dehumidifier free on freecycle or freagle, or there are good deals on fleabay, or keep an eye on your local German budget supermarkets as they sell batches every so often (mine came from there - £26 AFAIR).
Plus, running a dehumidifier is a real boon for those who tend to suffer chesty problems in damp environments - win win win really.0 -
Definitely one of those days... I just want to go to bed
I knew I shouldn't have got up this morning!
I second the dehumidifer idea too, btw xBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

generally speaking a dehumidifier might be handy even if you do use your TD as it iwll get any remaining excess moisture out the air0

I had a look for a dehumidifier recently but they were pretty pricey in argos, didn't realise the german supermarkets did them sometimes so shall keep my eyes peeled! Thanks!Mortgage OP 2025 £6200/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Thankfully intruder cat has disappeared - she loathes other cats .... at least she wasn't out at the time as that would've been a nightmare!
Anyway ... I did return to bed for a couple of hours - yesterday catching up on me a bit!:oa dehumidifier. Put it next to the drying rack and marvel at how much water it sucks out of the clothes.. Mmm will keep an eye out too!;) I have looked at them in the past but like Skinty found them a bit expensive.
The TD is in the garage so no issues with any residual damp from that - it really does just seem to have been from having the washing hanging around so much this year that's caused it.
A new heating element thing is around £50(guess it's because it's so old) and TBH I can't see the point in spending that much on a 17 yo machine - when I can get a new one for just over £100.
Booger - fledgling emergency fund will be wiped out ... again!:(Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Thank you El:T ..... finally plucked up the courage to enter the meter readings online and I'm just about bang on with the Elec but slightly over on Gas - not surprising really since I've been in the house for the last 9 weeks 24/7 (when I'd usually be at work day-time).
So ..... £21 owed & actually feel pretty OK about that
I might actually make an extra payment (£30ish) when I get paid and put the account to credit - if I don't I'll probably go through them trying to increase my d/debit by 80% like the last time!:eek:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
