  • It just does Lou ..... :o

So ..... trying to work out if I can drop some hours at work - I really can't afford to (the joys of being single!;)) but now getting totally p'd off.

Spoke to consultant a couple of weeks ago and he's confirmed that it's gong to take at least another 6 months before I'm anything like better:(

Honestly, I just start to feel human again by Sun PM and then it's back to work and I'm absolutely shattered by Tuesday

Just can't see how I'm going to make any progress unless I try to work a bit less and have more rest ......:(

Will be losing around £200 / month

:( hope the finger is improving and wishing I had something more helpful to say!

Any chance you could work from home for one day, rather than having to go in?

Am guessing that your consultant would sign you off as reducing hours temporarily for medical reasons, rather than you having to negotiate it any other way?

    Look into tax credits?
Or as Rosa says would working from home be an option?

  • Thanks ..... finger's errrr *sigh* OK when strapped up (but I have to take it off to do anything - dishes etc!)

Working form home would be fab but not allowed to (used to do it when I was in a different dept & it was great)

Consultant would happily write letter if I asked him to (did for my unsuccessful DLA claim - even saying that I shouldn't be working at all - & I still didn't get it!) BUT to do anything like this at our work we have to apply (to our boss) under the particular policy and state why we want to do it (childcare / care of relative always wins!)

Unlikely I'll get it & a bit of a gamble as I don't really want them to know I'm, struggling (for next redundancy round) - but really don't know what else to do as I really can't go on like this for another 6+ months ....

Hadn't thought about tax credits as I know I'm over the limit now - will have another look (I know I'm classed as low income even now)

No easy answers then I'm afraid.
Nor from the 'other' side either if you get my drift.
    Keep plodding.

the money situation is a hard one as there never seems to be enough help for singles or couples with no children

    That did make me chuckle!

Apparently singles (in Scotland certainly) are now the most prevalent households .... but as you say, there is no help

The one that really grates me is water - why should I pay the same for my water / sewerage as a family of 5 .... when I must use a fraction of what they do!

Anyway .... kind of good news

Spoke to my boss this morning & she's happy for me to do a temp reduction in hours - and take a Monday off for the next couple of months:) She was really nice (haven't & still don't always see eye to eye with her) and said I worked hard and she's rather support this than run the risk that I go "pop" in a few months & end up back at square one! (and off sick for ages again)

I suggested converting my Sept hols to unpaid (there's 8 days - and I could pay them back 2 days / month until Sept so it would break it up a bit) BUT .... this is the bad news ....... she says it's got to go through as a contractual change for the 2 months ..... so I'll lose it off those 2 months pay

Worked it out earlier and it's around £270 off June's salary and £300 off July's:eek::eek::eek: (works out more as the payroll system will multiply my new weekly hours by 52 weeks & then divide by 12 ...... so it will assume I'm doing it for the full year instead of only taking off the 8 days I'm not working)

    *sigh*

So glad to be getting the time off (as I really can't go on like this for another 6+ months) but now stressing about the money side of it

At the end of the day your health is way more important than the £££'s & think way less £££'s if you have to go of sick long term.
Less travelling costs which is good.
Sure there are lots more positives but am tired.Sorry :(
