  • Thanks .... I do feel really guilty whenever I spend ..... which I good I guess as it stops me going totally overboard - but when it's stuff I need, then I really need to learn to lighten up a bit!:o

    Think I'm going for a soak in the bath - I'm frozen!

Will try to remember to take a book with me this time so I've some hope of staying in longer than 5 mins :rotfl:

  • Oooh I fancy a soak in the bath....Enjoy
  • Enjoy...
I tried to go in the bath last night, but found it really cold in there after about 5 mins so it ended up being a quick dunk.
And I think that your spending is fine... we just went out and spent so much on food that I literally cannot fit another thing into the fridge or the freezer... however, will only feel guilty if I end up throwing stuff away.

Ahhhh I cheated and put the radiator on & shut the door for 20 mins before I went ;) (while the water was heating) - it's a tiny room so heats up really quickly :T (about the only thing good about it being so small!)

I did forget the book :o (had put it on my bed & still forgot!)

I've got one of my new thermal tops on :) lovely & warm & the sleeves are longer than the old ones! (hopefully it'll keep my wrists warm too!)

  • Anyway, when I was in the bath I did a quick calculation of Maisie's feeding costs ..... see the brain never really switches off!)

Previous costs were around £1/day (or just slightly over!) .... unfortunately making her meat/veg was proving quite costly as she can only have chicken and turkey :( (Ben was a lot easier ... even though he was wheat intolerant he was fine with all meats so I used to buy frozen mince & cook with veg which was really cheap - and also turkey mince now & then but this has shot up in price )

    Anyway - new costs....

Based on wet trays bought today - I've averaged these to 75 pence (lowest was 68p, highest was 90p and some in between!)

    Dry food - 15kg lasts 8 weeks = 50p / day
    Wet food - tray lasts 3 days = 25p / day

    So ..... down to 75 p / day .... might not seem a huge difference but it's over £90 / year saving :eek::):T

And then there's the savings on not using the hob / oven to cook all the stuff .... the time spent doing it (usually a whole afternoon once per month ) and the freezer space to store it all!

Can Maisie not just go in the garden just this once?

  • Ohhhhh she'll be going in the garden!;)(we've actually made pretty good progress on this - she's learning that if she doesn't go in the garden ... well, that's it and she'll have to hang on until morning!)

She does go most nights - have sussed out that if she goes out just after her dinner, that does her until bed time (and she will go then) BUT if she doesn't go out until a couple of hours after dinner, then she doesn't want to go again by bedtime! ...

Anyway, it's not that ..... she barks at noises outside  feel a noisy night coming on as I actually think it's something in one of my next door neighbours gardens so there's not a lot I can do about it :(

Going to brave it just now as it's probably late enough that if she "goes" she'll be OK to morning .... wish me luck!
