a quiet weekend spent doing the garden, washing and ironing the holiday clothes and getting some basic food shopping done. Went to a classic car rally in town yesterday and met up with my uncle who was showing his old car and with the owner of a lovely VW campervan - ooh, I want one of those.
. I know - it's not moneysaving, it will cost a fortune to buy, and then run. But for the first time in our working life we are off together every weekend and would love the freedom to take off and see a bit of the country every month. Life is for living after all.
So this month I have transfered our spare cash into the savings account to try and build this up. I have tried thinking about getting a loan to fund this, or even taking back our overpayments, but just can't bear to do that. So far, we have £1300 in savings, and another £2500 in isas, which we'd rather not touch. But we are really bad at saving - never managed to do it. meantime, any wee savings this month will overpay the mortgage. OH has plans for another part time job which might help.. mortgage 2 87,000 due 51,686.76 at july 2013, but then:new home and remortgage ... £101065.43:eek: now 74k

our usual standing order for £675.17 was paid today and our balance is at £87,390. Daily interest has dropped to £6.03 (was £7.58 a year ago)
back at work yesterday - it's such a slog sometimes, i have to work fulltime thrusday and friday this week which is a pain, but good for the overtime i guess. Feeling a a bit fed up and unmotivated at the moment, although have a dance class tonight that should cheer me up.. mortgage 2 87,000 due 51,686.76 at july 2013, but then:new home and remortgage ... £101065.43:eek: now 74k

so, finally Mr P phoned gas and asked them why their new calculation was so high and they agreed to decrease it and put us on a lower tarrif - i know, i know, we have been at this long enough - why am i surprised that we had to phone to take advantage of this, rather than them offering it previously as a reward for being great customers?
Dance class was great yesterday, except i have gout in my toe and now my finger - must have been all that lovely food on holiday last week! so hombling around eating cherries and drinking loads ( think i have been dehydrated also). Losing weight would help, but not able to walk much due to throbbing toe!. mortgage 2 87,000 due 51,686.76 at july 2013, but then:new home and remortgage ... £101065.43:eek: now 74k

so, i was offered the chance to go on a girlie weekend to mallorca at the end of next month - which is not Moneysaving at all - but would be fun and i'd get to see DD, so going to book it. Have a long weekend with monday off so thats nice, just fiinishing off little jobs in the garden, getting some monthly shopping done and taking our camera out for a few snaps.

my mum got a wee windfall and gave me a cheque for £500 :j:j. It's the first she has ever given us any cash and when she told me she wanted to do it I thought she meant £50 so am really surprised. It's been put into the savings for now, although might use it to pay part of our holiday.

was at a wedding last night, which was wonderful, there was a fantastic atomsphere and woke up smiling this morning. Even was given one of the bouquets to take home which was a lovely gesture.
There is such a lot going on in our town this weekend, the place is full of visitors and we have a market and circus come to town as well as a small festival. We were going to pop down, but i fell asleep on the sofa after tea so will catch up with it all tomorrow.. mortgage 2 87,000 due 51,686.76 at july 2013, but then:new home and remortgage ... £101065.43:eek: now 74k

tidied up my accounts and overpaid £15.63 today. Which only really covers the interest on my smallest mortgage. Off to a BBQ today so have a lemon cheesecake to make for that this morning.
