payday today and we both did overtime last month so there was enough to make a payment to credit card and give my parents back the first £500 we owe them. Hope to get the rest paid back before christmas. My dad has never had anyone transfer money into the internet banking before and was a bit suspicious of giving me his details - i had to persuade him i can only deposit cash, not withdraw anything! did a trial run of £1 and he thought i might be paying it back a pound a month...

OH starts a 2nd job tonight - helping out a freind's business. Should start at. 6 and finish about 2. Just our luck - we have been invited out for a drink, so can't go. But with the money he earns we are off to spend tomorrow night with Bella in Ballater. Even with the weather turning nasty and cold, i am still looking forward to that. We have put through a small order for her of £35 this month, mainly for a gear selecter as everytime i try to drive her the gears slip out and it's scary! That was only £6 but get free P&P if the order is over £35 so got a few small bits also, the big things we need will have to wait.

Oh and found £35 in an account which managed to go towards the mortgage - i couldn't resist making one small overpayment this month.
    mortgage 1 33,000. paid nov 2012 :D. mortgage 2 87,000 due 51,686.76 at july 2013, but then:new home and remortgage ... £101065.43:eek: now 74k
  • our usual standing order has gone through today and thats the balance down to £86,200 and the daily interest is £5.76 a day.

Had a great weekend away, the weather is getting colder, but we were warm and toasty in our van. The shops in the village are great - very old fashioned and selling unusual things - had to stop OH buying up a vintage cocktail shaker, we don't really need one! Stopped off at supermarket and used up £12 voucher as well as got loads of reduced food - steak reduced from £12 to £3 and enough for 2 meals.

  • overtime all week and more next week - so living quietly at the moment. We were going to go away this weekend, but were invited on a night out with freinds and so did that instead last night. Spent the day tidying up the garden and my dad has dug out another bit of earth for me to plant more veg in next year.

Its hard not making any overpayments to the mortgage - but another 2 or 3 months should see us almost clear our debt off. Been invited to yet another girls' weekend away next month and have had to say no - which i really hate doing. And the shops are full of fabulous autumn clothes so need to stop looking!

Gosh you have more will power than me! All that overtime and not buying clothes is very impressive!
What a nice dad you have!

  • well, to be fair, i haven't had time to go looking in shops for new clothes, LauraJo - it's been hectic! Even missed my dance lesson last night as had to go to an educational thing. And there is just over £200 in my current account, which I need half of to pay my nurse registration fee next week. The garden structure thing they are building out the back needs about £300 of wood to finish it and they are wanting to get that done before winter - right now, money is going out quicker than i can make it!

  • back to normal on the job front, whew..was interviewing for a new member of staff this week and was very impressed by a lady aged 50 who wants to leave her stressful management role to just work for the next 10 years. The other interviewers didn't get that - kept muttering about progressing up the ladder, etc - but i really identified with her and hope to do the same thing by the time I'm 50 too.

Son wants to go and look for a flat to rent, even though it will take up a huge chunk of his budget currently used for saving up deposits. I have mixed feelings about him moving out - but am leaving it up to him. His sister is coming home next month and I think he feels we might be a bit crowded, he's also had a couple of dates recently so maybe he is needing a bit of space.

  • still no money to overpay this month, and I have finally been given the go ahead to complete my masters as managers offered me half sponsership. It starts today so my half - over £600 will have to go onto credit car, but I am glad to be given the chance to finish it, even though it's a lot of work.

Son had a look at flat, but decided it would be too expensive at the moment to move out. I am happy with this, would be a shame when it would be a struggle. He is hoping to start a new job soon and then could think about a mortgage maybe.

realy been poor at moneysaving, am just home after another holiday seeing our girl with my parents. Got a good wage this month, but still have credit card to pay with hotel, uni fees and end of tax bill, plus still owe my parents £1.5k for the campervan - so no money to overpay mortgage this month again. now into 85k left owing - it is so slow when you stop, and cannot wait to see the numbers coming down quicker again in a couple of months.

Back on the wagon again - nothing too exciting planned for the next few months now, so should be able to start saving soon - oh except for a wee trip to London....

  • managed to go shopping and got £106 worth of food for £69 by using multibuys, nectar points and coupons, so pleased with that and won't need to do a big shop again till next month. The cupboards and freezer are full, but will need a bit of creativity...

OH working extra tonight, so that will give us some ready cash for weekend - need to pick up our daughter from airport so will swing past ikea and get a replacement toilet seat for our broken one.

I gave her room a clear out last night and netted loads of toiletaries she must have got for last xmas and left here, a box of chocolates that go out of date this weekend, some miniture bottles of booze and some drinking fudge chocolate! wish I'd cleaned out her room ages ago...

  • been a busy month with daughter home to stay for a bit, lots of dancing and studying for dissertation, still not spending much however. OH is busy welding the campervan and then it will need some cash spent on it. Trip to London did not materialise so that saves me some money, and i found a wee dress shop that sells designer vintage clothes second very cheap so have bought a ballgown for a christmas ball we are going to.

OH got paid today, but still owe 1k to bank of mum and dad and then over £700 on credit card - so still no money left to overpay! next month should see us in the black again...just in time for christmas.
