Is there a phone that will last the length of the contract?

I'm feeling very frustrated - I have an HTC Wildfire S with numerous issues, and despite researching ways to improve/solve the problems I'm stuck with a "smart" phone that;-
has major memory problems
doesn't come out of standby a few times a day
battery just about lasts a day - (poor, but not uncommon these days)
fails to receive calls despite showing good signal.

I cannot upgrade with Vodafone until June. I have had this phone for only 15 months.

All I need is a phone that survives the length of the contract - is that too much to ask? I'm now worried that if my child's school needs to get hold of me when I'm out of the house they wont be able to, so I need to do something, whether it's a cheap as chips mobile or a smartphone with longevity....

I've got no experience with anything HTC, however we both have iPhones that last forever (although a new screen is about £40 if you drop it), and quite a few of our staff are going for the Galaxy S3 now, that also feel as though they're built to last.

  • I had my HTC Desire for nearly 2 years, never had a single problem. My hubby now has it and despite dropping it and cracking the screen, its still going.

I'm 14 months in with my SG2, and touch wood no problems.

Samsung does have a 2 year warranty and as the contract is 2 years then it should last for the length of the contract.

  • I've had my HTC Wildfire for almost 2 years now and it still works fine. Contract is up soon and I'm struggling to find anything on par to replace it without spending a ridiculous amount :/

  • My phone makes calls sends texts is waterproof and can be dropped from a height and it cost me £80.
Is that what you want or did you want a portable computer that can also make phone calls

We have three wildfires in our house just coming up to 2 years old.

Two have been hammered one owned by my wife who uses it quite a bit but carfeully.

1.) Headphone socket on one no longer works properly.
2.) Battery life on all is pretty less than a day, take an age to charge.

Actual functionality on all three is OK.

I will inherit the best one and am not fussed about it. Happy with a Samsung Tocco Lite that just keeps going and going, close to 4 years old.

The replacements look as though they willbe Nokia Lumia 800 I think according to the kids.

I think that a contract should include a product guarantee for that duration too.

They normally do on Vodafone I believe although I'm not sure about other networks.

My own experience with HTCs is that they become a bit unreliable after a year or so.

If you just need a phone for calls / text then you can't go wrong with a cheap Nokia - they're famous for being practically indestructible! £15 from Asda or similar shops
