  • Old mcdonald............yes you can get them on prescription.......my husband suffers and has to take them pretty much from march to end of october daily, sometimes twice a day.our doctor only prescribes to 30(months supply)in one go.
as my husband also gets asthma inhalers and another tablet to take daily we buy a pre pay prescription card yearly as it works out a lot cheaper(they are from memory about £95) if you take any other meds regularly it may be worth looking into getting one...........before we got onewe sat down and worked out how much we spent on prescriptions(the reg ones not including unexpected) in a year and it was over double the cost of the card so well worth it to us.

I'm having a bulk baking day (apple cake, banana cake, peanut butter cake, jam tarts) and I've also got about 10 slices of stalish bread that I want to use up but don't know how  I was thinking bread and butter pudding but haven't got any raisins.

    Hope every1 has a great day :T

    Hi Jet

Can I come round and help you eat your baking pleeease? It sounds yummy!

What about Queen of Puddings, which uses breadcrumbs and jam, and some sort of meringuey top? Here's a Delia recipe http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/queen-of-puddings,1935,RC.html She also has a separate recipe for individual ones.

Or, if you have chocolate, what about Delias chocolate b&b puds? http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/chocolate-bread-and-butter-pudding,1036,RC.html

Or if all else fails I would expect you can make a bread and butter pudding and just put jam (or lemon curd) on the underside of the bread, instead of putting fruit in.

I'm sure someone who has done it will be along shortly :-)

    EDITED TO ADD:
Or you could ask a question as a new thread... that way the OSers who don't read the Daily will see it and respond xx

    Hi everyone!
Welcome to all the newbies....they're a very friendly crowd over here!
Catowen- I do sympathise. At various times I've been laid low with bouts of anxiety/depression [although thankfully due to professional help I have been well other that the odd blip for 8 years]. One of the things suggested to me was to keep a notebook and write down 5 blessings everyday...some days I could have filled out pages but on a bad day it may simply have been my OH, my son, my family & friends, having enough to eat, the weather was dry etc. It helped me when I was bad and unable to think rationally to read back through it.

Not having too frantic a day today as am very aware that it's going to be mega busy at work next week and I am likely to end up cream crackered. Have done a dark load and hung it out and done some bits and bobs in the town including new school shoes. The small person had managed to wear holes into the toes....I fully replace all his uniform every year and it's always wrecked within a fortnight. Aargh boys:eek: Am pleased though because found a complete rainy day project box for my niece which I've snaffled away into my gift box.
Plans for this pm were cancelled as my friend's son has been uncle !!!!!!. Enjoying some me time instead up at my parents whilst OH hopefully is tackling the new larder in the kitchen [it used to house the hot air unit]

Aril - I recently started smthing similar which has been quite helpful. I keep a pad where I right down 5 positive things I've done in the day - sometimes it's as simple as having sorted the washing out or walked to the shop and other days I could go on 4 ages!!

Still messing about on the internet (have lost count now of how many times I have logged into MSE today!) :D

Boys beds still in pieces in their bedrooms.

Looks like they will be in their sleeping bags again tonight! On a plus side, DH said that he will do them tomorrow if I haven't got round to it today. He thinks I'm too busy - didn't have the heart to tell him that I am being a lazy toad and sitting on my bum, surfing the net:D

I suppose I should put myself out enough to plant some seeds later though!

Hi jet77 - welcome to the thread. Thats a lovely idea to aim for 5 positive things a day, however simple :)

anniestar & the other hayfever sufferers - I have also found hayfever tablets in £1 shops and Tesco. They all contain the same stuff really. I refuse to pay for branded stuff like that
Penny-Pincher - agree, shop around for insurance!
Tartan Mum, verynewmoneysaver & Jet77- Hello and welcome to the thread
Mel123 - I hate it when the phone rings in the middle of the night like last night
crazychik hugs, sorry to hear about the ex not being very nice again
catowen - great to hear you're starting with the positive thinking, you've got a lot to be proud about

Well those are the ones I can remember after trying to catch up so late but also big hugs to anyone else who needs one today.

Weathers poop here, not raining but dull, doesn't motivate me at all (hence why I am on here)

DPs did a silly thing last night, jumped over the garden fence in the dark when he got in from work, forgot my radiator was there and fell. He called me at 4.30am as he was on the floor outside and couldn't get up, thankfully he had his phone. So tiny me at 5ft3 ish had to almost carry him in and he's over 6ft, must have looked hilarious. His ankles up like a balloon so he isn't going to work, hope he'll be ok by next week as self employed and not working means no money. Things will be a little 'tight' this week with only 1/2 what he usually brings in. Trying to get him to resist spending on his card then is much harder!

He's conned his brother to taking him somewhere then he's going to see his Mother who came back yesterday, evil wench that she is. Keep telling him to rest it but you know what they are like when they have something 'important' to do like going to get a cable for a games machine. Sheesh!

Anyway, kitchens a bomb site, but I am getting there. Having 2 metres less bench space is going to be hard work! It's finding somewhere to put things, what a headache. Plus all my racks have had to come down, they were broken a little anyway but fastening things have now snapped, so need to see if I can get some more next week when kids are at school, gets things off the surfaces and out of the cupboards.

Instead of talking about it I best go do it! Oh and I stuck to my shopping list today apart from duck eggs, couldn't resist them, did plan on buying eggs but not ducks, so proud of my little self :D

Toodles, might be back later (Ok probably will be)
One day I might be more organised...........

    Frugal challenge 2025
    Feb  Grocery Challenge £250

  • *waves* I've not posted on the daily thread for ages, been hanging out on the flylady thread. Anyway, I hope that everyone is ok, and those of you that aren't or just want one have a hug.

At the beginning of this year I decided that it was time to get my life back in order, after several years of depression, stress and anxiety I almost feel normal again, the doctor is planning on taking me off my meds in 3 months time. My 2 big challenges that I decided to start with were clearing my debts and getting into a routine with the housework as I was fed up of living in a mess. Thanks to MSE, I am now well on my way to clearing my debts by the end of the year. Though a 3K payrise has helped with that. We've managed to stick to our reduced grocery budget. With the help and support from moggins, lil_me and the everyone else on the flylady thread the house is looking great. I don't dread going into any of the rooms anymore (unless the BF has been cooking). Most of the clutter has gone and I'm over £200 richer for it, and there's still some more stuff to sell.

My next challenges are to start cooking from scratch more and to eat properly and to study for my first microsoft exam at the end of July. So I'm now off to search for healthy vegetarian recipes as I'm sure there's bound to be some on here, I just have to resist the receipes for cakes and all things yummy.

How did the hunt go? Did you find something to wear?
Anyway I'm sure your friend will enjoy your company to celebrate her birthday whatever you wear.

    Hi again

    Jet77 hi and welcome.

Been very busy today. Bathroom is gleaming, staircase has been swept and washed down (DD feels the need to run both hands down both sides of the staircase as she goes up/down so it was looking particularly grubby), very-mini-top-up shop done, all washing done and on the line, and banana flapjacks are cooling as I type (though I couldn't resist having *1* to test them - turned into three. :o ) Living room carpet has been scrubbed in the areas that get most wear so is looking a little brighter.

I remember Oprah doing the "thankful journal" idea. She still uses it apparently though I think she should really have to write 100 things that she is thankful for given her circumstances. ;)

As for getting on with XDHs, I have to say that XDH and I make the effort for the sake of DS and DD. We tend to have Christmas Day dinner, NYE dinner and DS and DD's birthdays together. We have our problems (dear god it is SO hard biting my tongue at times) but DS and DD never see any of it. We recognise that putting on a united front for their sake is the best we can do given our circumstances. Of course that doesn't mean that I don't resent his childish behaviour (for example, he refuses to increase his maintenance payment to me - as agreed in our separation agreement - as he insists that he signed it at a time of emotional duress so why should he respect it?), but I have to look at it from the point of view that he will only be paying this for a few more years then I can remove him from life for the most part. I also keep telling myself that "what goes round, comes round" and he will get his comeuppance.

(((hugs))) to those who need or want one. Oh, and hi :hello: to Rage - Dinnerladies is on in the background and Babs from Urmston made me think of you (not personally, you understand, if you have ever seen it. :D )

    Annie xx
