We rescued three bunnies this year.

We had 2 gay bunny rabbits.

Would quite often pick the little one up to find it covered in rabbit sp-u-nk. Once the big one had a break, the little one would jump up and try to do the big one..

On the hutch side, we gave it extra straw/hay (which is ate) and moved it into the shed to keep it out of the wind.

apart from all the insulation tips etc.

The best one is GET YOUR BUNNY A FRIEND.

Its dark now at 4.30 and this poor rabbit is on its own in the dark, bored stiff for at least 15 hours. I cant help thinking that;s a bit cruel.
    I certainly wouldnt like it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

It's VERY simple, would you want to be out there? animals INSIDE in winter NO exceptions

Actually I was told by a vet NOT to bring a rabbit indoors if it had been used to living outside because extremes of temperature are bad for rabbits. It wouldn't be fair to bring her in over the winter and then have her back outside in the milder weather.

At the end of the day rabbits are not guinea pigs, they are originally from countries that have colder weather and therefore cope better then guinea pigs who aren't.

Every rabbit I have ever had have lived outside and all have had free run of the garden and got through the harshest winters just fine.

Our bunny would lay with the dog, and eat the dog's food. Our dog was an old large labrador thing, if you wound the dog up it would chase the rabbit, but apart from that they were good friends.

Bunny Friend - Just make sure the new friend is the same size, or larger than your rabbit. As our rabbit made good work of a small dwarf..

my 2 male fought after neutering... so they can only see one another.
    they never meet one another
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?
  • I think animals should be brought out of the cold into a garage or shed in winter. In the wild rabbits would be sheltered under ground and with each other to share body heat.

Sorry do you have a fur coat big ears and stamp your feet at night ?
Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal.
  • Put on a fur coat and go sit outside at night. Pretty sure you'll still be cold!

Go sit in a small shed in a fur coat with piles of hay round you and you'd probably be quite toasty :)

OP - we had bunnies for a number of years and they were quite happy outside in winter. They had an enclosed area of their hutch that had plenty of hay, we used old carpet for extra insulation and had a waterproof cover for when it rained and a thick blanket for when it was frosty. As mentioned, make sure you check their water bottle regularly though. Normally they would just still want to 'play out' whatever the weather, even in the snow.

We did consider making a underground hide for the rabbits, we thought about digging a rectangle recycling box (with lid) into the ground, and taking 1x 4" drain pipe out of it.

Therefore somewhere for the rabbits to hide away, we could open the lid and top it up with hay etc. They could also go in there to keep warm.
