  • I've been having a wobble the past day or so. Only wobbling though, no falling.

It's one of my best friend's wedding in a month or so, and the hen is in a couple of weeks. We've been asked to buy a small present, £5 max value. I was looking at some end of sale things, thinking I'd buy her some nice knickers or something. Anyway I shortly found myself looking at things for £20 for her ("but they are 50% off . . ."), plus a couple of bras for me, and then trying to mentally justify these things, none of which were necessary.

Anyway, having slept on it I have talked myself down to a pretty pair of pants in the sale, free delivery, £4.50. And nothing for me :T

Still a good wake up call, how easy it is to slip back into old habits.

  • I got paid for some of my freelance work yesterday, and it went straight to the CCs. I split it between the two so that they both stand under £2k (for the psycological benefit) but put more on the one with the shorter 0% BT.

Other than that getting back to the serious business of debt busting.; getting back into the swing of not spending unnecessarily.:)

  • I've got a small case of the mid-month glums. Currently feeling like I'm not getting anywhere with the debt fighting. Although I guess I've not been actively puttin energy into recently. and the 10% pay cut is really starting to bite. This months paycheck will be the last reduced one though, we're back on full pay from April.

    Onwards and Upwards.

  • Bit of a mixed bag here at KC Towers.

On the one hand I spent last weekend at the Hen Do of a very close friend (I'm one of the bridesmaids) which was lovely, and largely pre-paid/budgetted for so felt like a huge treat while being very MSE!

And then today I went to a local organisation that recycles DIY materials. The council stopped taking paint at the dump some years ago and so this organisation took over the redistribution of partially used tins of paint. There is no obligation to pay for paint, but it's only 75p a litre if you do! Anyway the organisation has expanded to cover any kind of building materials and otherwise useful stuff. It's a complete treasure trove and I can see a great resource for doing up the flat in a MSE and sustainable way. So today I bougth 3 litres of paint, two rollers, a pack of sand paper, masking tape and a large piece of lino floor for £13 :money:

On the downside, the effect of reduced hours is really being felt to me now, and I have overspent this month again. I can feel the steady slide into debt again, but I am fighting it. :(

  • So I have done the pay day totting up and I'm ashamed to say I have gon significantly backwards in my totals :(

I'm agry with myself for having let this happen, and that I've thrown away a load of hard work that I've done in the few months before. There's no particualr reason for the spending, I've just taken my eye off the ballf or a few months running and slipped into old habits.

But no more! I am still here, still posting and still working towards the DF life. I am going to renew my efforts working towards controlling my spending and earning more for my debt repayments.

  • I'm feeling a lot more positive this week. I had a good weekend working on the flat, controlled the spends to necessary things, and enjoyed myself.

Also rather than buy card/flowers/gift for DM for Mother's Day, I bought an A5 notebook

It was nice to spend a weekend when the activities weren't centred on spending money but spending time and creating something. I think that's something I need to tap back into to help me though this next stage of debt busting.

Also I have picked up some more freelance work from a friend, so hopefully more money coming my way shortly.
