Car is not doing well! I was away over the weekend, so it was standing for three days and wouldn't start this morning. Going to go back with jump leads again tonight, and hopefully get it to move.
On top of that not having the car has thrown out all my plans for the day and so had to buy breakfast, lunch and pay for the bus. Not very MSE, but I guess there's stuff you just can't plan for.
Assuming it starts tonight, I willtake it to be checked tomorrow first thing.
On the positive side though, I have won a £50 Amaz0n voucher for doing a survey a while back, which will lighten the Christmas budget a little.

Well we got the car going yesterday, drove home with minimal use of the lights in order to preserve whatever was getting recharged to the battery. And it started first time this morning, so that was encouraging.
Took it straight to the garage, and they're having to replace the battery and one of the contacts that has corroded. £135 all in and there's enough sitting in the car account for this (have separate piggy bank for this) so it won't impact main finances. I was hoping to use that to cover my insurance renewal next year, and thus be able to stop with monthly payments for ins but hey-ho.
Now just fingers crossed there's nothing wrong with the alternator . . . :eek:Total debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150 -
Oh no! What's the news?
I have been haring about like a mad person, my darling mother keeps deciding I'm doing things without discussing it - well, she mentions an event/visit/etc etc, I lodge an objection that is completely ignored and whatever it is is booked regardless! She also has an interesting idea of both the cost of fuel and the geography of this wonderful country... so that is fun. Which is why I have been very quiet!
Also, was asked by my chap to book massages for us both (lovely idea, his first weekend off from the army, really nice I thought), he keeps going on about how he feels guilty about having not earned much for a while, and how he wants to treat me now he has got some cash... we go to pay and his wallet stays in his pocket. So I paid for both! I don't want to seem churlish but it wasn't actually my idea so I am a smidgeon peeved about it!
So yeah, my debt-busting is taking a bit of a battering at the moment, scuppered by the two people I would have hoped would understand!

Car is OK, no problems with the alternator, but it seems to be consuming oil at a rate so have to keep an eye on it. Otherwise not much to report, just plodding along.
It's so annoying when people "volunteer" you for things, so I feel your pain. Hmm, October is not going as well as September did! I am dipping back into my OD, although the generous overpayment to me CC kind of balances that out a bit I guess but it's a bit dis-spiriting to be going backwards in OD.
It has been an expensvie month though - two big birthdays BF and DM, and I could have done a better job at planning that. Next month should be a bit more stable, plus I hope a couple of windfalls coming my way to give the debt busting a boost . . . fingers crossed.Total debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150 -

Lottie,
I admire you for not flipping out at him later on. I'd have been so upset. You're a v kind person!

Hey KC
Don't worry about the progress not being as fast as last month, try to stay positive and look at the bright side and what you have achieved.
Good luck with the birthday shopping, and the windfalls sound good, yay!* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

This month looks like another treading water type affair. I think the overpayment I made to the CC pretty much equals the overspend on my ODOh well next month.
Wind fall singular now (but hopefully still on the way) as no bonus this year. In fact work are proposing 10% pay cut for all employees. Our representatives are going forward with a 10% cut in hours too offer, which would be OK. Having 10% less in my pay packet isn't good, but if I had the time back too I could do more freelance stuff and make up the shortfall.Total debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150 -
So I have totted up this months total (it being pay day) and despite car disasters and over overpayments to my CC I have knocked another 1% off the debt. Not great, but I'm glad I haven't gone backwards!
November will be time to batten down the hatches, and get a headstart on Christmas planning.Total debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150 -
So work have instigated the 105 cut in hours/pay, and it starts this week. I have Friday off, and will be using some of it to start thinking and making for Christmas.
It's not a great situation, but I am totally looking forward to having some more time to do other things. Depending on how the money looks (I don't know what my paycheck will look like yet) I might opt to stick with it in the longer term.Total debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150
