I'm sooo envious of you seeing the Flaming Lips! I love them!!!

I went once (in Brum) and they were recording the concert for bbc2 - was really energetic and great fun!

How have you been KC? X

Ah yeah they were brilliant. And amazing to get that experience for free!

I'm doing OK, plodding along with debt reduction. I've paid off 16% now, and I'm under £8000, so I'm pretty please with that. I've more eB4y stuff to sell, and will be making another big overpayment this month, so on the right road . . .

How are you doing? I saw you've paid 20% off, which is amazing - you're kicking my a*se anyway! :rotfl:

You didn't have to pay to see them, that makes the concert even better in my eyes somehow!! (My bf has taken to calling me Scrooger ;))

Under 8k is good news!! You've done well. How big an overpayment are you thinking this month?

I'm going to have to stick with the regular £550, as it's my bf's 30th next Saturday and we are also going to stay with his parents in Portugal at the end of the month.

I'm trying to stop focussing on the debt so much, but at the same time stay focused enough!! How's your motivation? Are you feeling positive?

Yep it was free :D When the BBC need an audience they hold a ballot for the tickets. I guess it's part of getting public funding and all. So a lot of radio broadcasts/panel shows, Jules Holland, Strictly Come Dancing etc. It's on their website under "be in an audience" Obviously a lot are in London (don't know where you live) and there's never a guarantee of getting anything, but always worth a shot.

I am pleased to be under £8k. It feels good. I'm going to throw another £350 overpayment at the B'card this month so that will be good!

  • So I'm back from an unexpectedly extended weekend in Edinburgh! I'd booked flights up, and clearly wasn't paying enough attention when I did as I booked a 7.30am flight instead of a 5.30pm flight! Quick scramble in the office on Thursday to beg for a days holiday on short notice (otherwise £100 for another flight ) but otherwise all good.

Weekend was quite spendy, because of visiting lots of friends and so ends up eating out lots. But meanaged to keep a bit of a lid on it. It was fun, and now the rest of the month should be frugle!

Ah that's a good way of seeing some great shows for nought!
I'm in Birmingham, so not that far in theory... I might have a look at something like that - I'd love to see how radio shows are recorded! Not to mention seeing bands.

KC - you brave thing! I've just seen your food target for the month!? How can you do it? Have you got a freezer full of stuff? X

Edinburgh! I'm always writing in envious exclamations when I come to your thread. I absolutely adore E. hope you had an amazing time. It's good to have a life alongside paying debts off.

You've done ever so well to bring your total down so much! Great result.

I'm currently living at my parents, while I'm between house rentals, so I pay a "rent" to M&D which covers me for food and everything. But there are a few extras that I like to have for lunches etc. and I don't like to make requests becasue they're already doing so much for me, and that's what the £20 is for.

When I was living independently food budget was more like £50 a month, but with pretty well stocked cupboards backing me up!

And living at home is what allows me to pay down debt and do those trips as well. I'd have a much harder time justifying them otherwise.

I also adore Edinburgh. I lived there for 7 years (while studying and first job). I left 4 years ago (not by choice, beginning of recession, and my industry is very recession dependent) and still miss it. Even now visiting feels a little like going home :( One day my life might lead me back there, but it'll be some time yet. I'm learning to love where I am. Always living with a suitcase mentally packed makes me even unhappier, and was almost certainly a contributing factor to my debts.

  • Made another £350 overpayment to my debt today, and now I'm down to a total of £7510.73. :j

I'm going to have to find that £10.73 from somewhere this month to take that edge off down to the £7500 mark. Fingers crossed for my eBay tat!

Well, looking at the state of my bank balace at the moment it may have been a case of borrow form Peter to pay Paul! So it may go up again at the end of the month.

I can see that the OD will be the hardest thing to clear, because there is so much traffic through my account. Will have to pin down a strategy for that soon.

What's PADing? if it find me more debt-repayment money I'm interested!
