I'm touched by you all, thank you. :A And even the weather is glorious today in honour of my big day :T

Party at MY house this evening, eh? :rotfl: If only...unfortunately, I still have to work for a living to achieve phases 3 to 6 of my grand master plan...phase 6 is a holiday, though...eventually :p

I seem to have lost the ability to thank you all individually... In fact the whole forum looks weird...I've honestly not touched a drop, officer!

It must be an amazing feeling, and such an achievement :T

When I took my mortgage out 12.5 years ago I never envisaged the difference that OPing would make to it. I could pay my mortgage off now, but I am getting marginally better rates in a cash ISA (at the moment, not sure how long that will last!), and prefer to have access to the cash in case I need it for something. I am still OPing each month but also saving some, and hope to be MF by the end of 2015, all being well. Not bad when my original end date was 2026!

The support and encourgagement that this forum provides is immeasurable and has kept me on the straight and narrow when I have been tempted to use the OP money for something else. So thanks everyone on here :T

Yay!! After declaring that im going to be unable to make anymore OP's this year, I've looked in our debit accounts and we've still got £170 left in there for October :D. Sent off an OP of £100 to C&G today.

So #104 with OP of £100 for Oct :j

    Thanks VM xx

Yes, I've had a similar dilemma whether to keep the savings or pay off the mortgage, but my savings rates were pitiful, and my mortgage interest rate at least double the savings interest rate. TBH, I cba to search for a better mortgage either after my fixed rate ended ;).

I have wobbled back and forth as I feel very uneasy not having much in the way of savings now. BUT that uneasiness is (today at least) well buried in the delight of having secured the roof over my head.

I may starve from lack of ready funds, but the rain will be kept off. Ach, I need to lose some weight anyway. :rotfl:

Congratulations Lavender Bees, I'm thrilled for you! :j

All the sacrifices have paid off, think how much financial freedom and security you now have. What will you do now?

I'll keep saving...I've forgotten how to spend :rotfl:

Nah, I have an unexpected approx £2.5k vets bill to pay (luckily for pusscat I luvs him or he'd be toast by now). and then phases 3 to 6 of my financial grand master plan to achieve (replacement car fund, home improvements, vets fund (!), holiday fund) so I'll just keep trucking on and on...I'm lurking on the savings board, and thinking of starting a diary as motivation for myself as am seriously flagging now, and you lovely peeps will still be here, and I'll be over there....cast adrift amongst virtual strangers (for a change :rotfl:)

My need for a bit of financial security demands I keep going.

For today though, I'm enjoying a lovely sense of achievement. Tomorrow, I start again...

I've put your final op as £4286 - your original target, unless you'd like to put a different figure. When you've finished _party_ of course.

    Congratulations LavendarBees!

#73 reporting in with October's OPs - managed to OP £333.81 this month and that means since January I've cut another 6 months off my mortgage

Sorry, VM. I'm afraid I have failed miserably at reaching my £10k target. I have no OP this month because of the vets bills, but luckily, when I investigated my redemption amount, I found I didn't actually need to reach £10k this year to pay off the mortgage. My final total is the amount in my signature.

    Hangs head in shame...
