When do people tend to overpay?

Are you like me and do it right at the beginning of the payday month OR do you wait and see what you have left over by the end of the payday month?

I sort of try and do both but usually have zero left over at the end of the month! I was onto my last tenner this time round!

I OP a regular amount at the beginning of the month and then drip feed as I get more through the month. I never have enough left at the end of the month to leave it until then. Also my interest recalculates after my standard monthly payment at the beginning of the month so I OP at the same time so it helps get the interest lower.

I've a monthly standing order goes out on payday every month. Apart from the bills which are all on DD all my other spending goes on my (cashback, paid of in full every month) credit card. So usually if I'm going to increase the monthly op I just adjust the SO for the payday op.

Unless any emergencies crop up I know exactly how much I'll have in the account until next payday & the safest way for me to avoid spending it is to op before I get the chance.
