As im sure others will testify, on 30th november alone there were just over 1200 closing, now if you start doing them from say 24th nov thats 200 a day, then you have each days closing in between, then theres 'effort' comps which may take you half an hour if its a story/cooking effort etc.

yes there were actually more than 1200 closing on the 30th!!!

If it's one per person, I enter once for me and once for my husband - but mostly for stuff like iPads, phones, TVs etc. If my husband were to enter himself, it would still be the same IP, same details etc but a different person pressing the enter button!

For one per household, I enter myself.

Anything else, e.g. my sister would like then I send them an email with the link in so they can enter themselves.

As of right now (23.55pm 4th dec) there are 265 pages of LIVE competitions over 5300 comps without all the other comps on here, and bear in mind some of those comps, have other comps on the companys pages (sometimes you can find upto 10 extra comps from a link on mse)

I hope its ok to say but I would be careful re comping in that way.

You'll have no green tick/thanks button to check back on & run the risk of duping entries.

Maybe just post any extra comps you spot on the MSE links. That way you'll be able to track the entries.

Plus I think a lot of 'extra' comps on some Companies pages are run and sponsored by sites that are considered as SPAM providers on MSE.

  • Why on earth would you want to enter every single comp though? There are a lot of rubbish prizes out there. Of course for every prize there is someone who would like it, but there are a lot that I certainly do not want so wont enter and I imagine its the same for most people (ie a lot of comps dont get entered by any particular person as the prize is of no interest)

Personally, I don't see the problem in entering for family members as long as you live with them and they ask you to do it for them. Some may say 'well they can enter themselves' which is true enough but if I'm already entering for myself then I can easily enter my brothers or sisters. My mum also doesn't know how to use a computer/laptop so if she asks me to enter a competition in her name then I'll do it. She doesn't ever ask though (but that's not the point :p) I guess what I'm trying to say is, the option is there and I wouldn't think it was wrong.

I think the point at which it gets wrong is when you're entering them solely to increase your own chances and obviously when it's one per household and you try bypassing that by entering another family members address but with your name.

That said, I very rarely enter for anyone else besides myself. I don't comp as much as I used to (probably 2-3hrs maximum a day and that's not every day) so I only ever enter for myself. If its a prize I think my mum would want I just enter my details with the thought that if I were to win it I can just give it to her. Even with itv comps I only enter once not the maximum 6 times. I mean if it's fate, it's fate.

I don't think I'd ever be bothered to enter for anyone else besides myself on 99% of comps. Just don't have the time. 14 hrs is just wow lol.
  • It is against FB rules to have two accounts and they have been clamping down on this and you run the risk of having both your personal and comping account suspended. Quite a number of people have had their accounts suspended because of this.

FB also seem to be clamping down on number of Likes people are doing (there is a thread on here re this).

The problem here is a lot of companies are also going against FB rules by doing comps on a "Like and share" (Oh how I HATE those two words) basis as they should run comps by way of an app.

FB also appear to be monitoring accounts that are just "liking and sharing" and no other interaction.

Remember (I keep repeating this) Facebook is a "Social Networking" site and not a comping site!

Ek, I do interact on the comp facebook and put albums and talk on people's wall and stuff. Did not realise you could only have one..I know many people with two for close friends and then a "smart" one for work friend, family and non close friends..

And of course, there is the WHOLE internet with FB/TW where you can find loads more comps not just ones listed on here.

Isn't that sort of the point of MSE? That if you find a comp that's not listed then you post it?

I guess I just don't have the patience to comp for hours at a time, nor the good health to be able to spend that long at a computer, sadly ... I'd rather be working ...

Very good point made by weeowens,
I do tend to find that if i enter extra comps on a page through an mse link - good example is 'red online' or stylist, as these comps are usually always posted (i play by end date on mse) usually when i come to that particular comp on here and goto the page, i suddenly will think eh i seem to remember doing that, so you do have to be careful.
But i only enter for certain prizes so dont tend to redo many and thus get disqual.

And oney, yes that was just an example of how you could if you wanted comp 24 hours a day.
Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:
