HOW MANY ENTRIES etc..

  • The sad thing is it will not stop, people will continue to enter for all their families, cats and dogs etc. I even saw in someone's signature on here a win that said their cat had won it

Same with Facebook and Twitter, people having multiple accounts etc. Some people are plain greedy when it comes to prizes and obviously have no guilt about doing it so they will not stop.

I too consider myself very lucky. I probably enter say 30-50 comps per week with my one email/phone number.

There are soooo many advents this year although probably only about 20 that I think are worth the time and effort. I did a few before work this morning and have now just sat down so I certainly do not even have 5 hours a day to devote to them, I am lucky if I have a couple of hours at the most to comp per day.

Wow, feel such a noob reading this!! Tap away on ,y ipad, no idea if I have entered the same comp more than once unless someone says its a dupe! Really hoping I win something soon.....doing about 100 a day! The thought of winning some of the amazing prizes keeps me going!

    Good luck everyone!!!

Best advice I can give is not to enter comps the minute that they're posted. Until you get into the swing of it and start to recognise sites it's far safer to hold fire for a while after posting. Someone more experienced will quickly point it out if a comp has already been posted on here.

    Some nice tips!
Well after a mad weekend of advents, today was real letdown,
alot of the ones that i sorted out yesterday (sunday) todays prizes seemed very feeble, not many decent prizes around on most i entered today :(
Even one of my faves 'costa coffee' wasnt a good prize today - well i say not a good prize there all good prizes i guess but some float my boat more than others.

Ah well had a chilled day after my 14 hour stint on saturday (lets hope somewhere between fri-sunday i did a comp that was meant for me.

I like the idea of having comps in notepad/word/docs or something, but still havent got my head around that.

And fiinally NO i still dont touch them pesky daily entry comps (barring advents) ya know the WOT/CLOSER etc
Maybe in the new year i will investigate them more, espec seen as so many memebers have given me tips on how to do them..

Well take it easy guys and dont get too stressed

    Good luck

I've always wondered, in comps that say "one entry per person", are you allowed to enter more than once on a single IP address? I'm in sixth form and live with my parents, and they've asked me to enter for them as well, so I have. Would I be disqualified? I don't have much time to enter many comps, but I do the odd 20 or so a day. How do they track entries? Because if the use IP addresses, it may as well be one per household.
  • I do have a seperate facebook and Twitter for Comping on, because my friends got peed off I kept spamming with so many competitions on the newsfeed and it was hard to see their news with so many page likes!. I only enter a competiton once though.
Rather do many comps then try to put all eggs in one basket with one fantastic competition. I am that person that gets impatient if a page does not load, or work and tend to move on with the next one.
Saying that though, I have won quite a lot (best prize, a tom tom) so there is genius in the madness somewhere! :3
Thank you all for making MSE so wonderful!

Thats a good idea. If i was going to be a serious comper I would consider this, as I already think I spam them with my blog!

It is against FB rules to have two accounts and they have been clamping down on this and you run the risk of having both your personal and comping account suspended. Quite a number of people have had their accounts suspended because of this.

FB also seem to be clamping down on number of Likes people are doing (there is a thread on here re this).

The problem here is a lot of companies are also going against FB rules by doing comps on a "Like and share" (Oh how I HATE those two words) basis as they should run comps by way of an app.

FB also appear to be monitoring accounts that are just "liking and sharing" and no other interaction.

Remember (I keep repeating this) Facebook is a "Social Networking" site and not a comping site!

  • Can I add my tip?

That tip is that its not about winning. Yes the wins are nice, but the entering should be fun too and any wins should be a bonus. As soon as it becomes about the winning then its time to stop IMHO. The thrill of wondering if the postman has got anything exciting or if there are any WEMs is enough for me to keep going.

Re the mags, I enter all those I want every day, if I dont have much time I make sure my mags are done. Ive not done too bad with them either. I think thats why I keep doing them.

Its only the ITV ones where Ive 'cheated' by using my home phone and my mobile. Everything else Ive entered for me and me alone (with execption of comps that are aimed at children, but I only enter on behalf of my child that would like the prize and entered as them if that makes sense)

I only ever do FB comps if its an App too. Like and share just get a red cross from me.
Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:

Hi all couple of things - one per person entries - I take it to mean 1 per ip address, and dont chance it.

And oneyorkshirelass 14 hours was mad but most days i do at least 8-10 hours, if you look there are easily enough competitions around that you could enter 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
As im sure others will testify, on 30th november alone there were just over 1200 closing, now if you start doing them from say 24th nov thats 200 a day, then you have each days closing in between, then theres 'effort' comps which may take you half an hour if its a story/cooking effort etc.
And of course, there is the WHOLE internet with FB/TW where you can find loads more comps not just ones listed on here.

As of right now (23.55pm 4th dec) there are 265 pages of LIVE competitions over 5300 comps without all the other comps on here, and bear in mind some of those comps, have other comps on the companys pages (sometimes you can find upto 10 extra comps from a link on mse)
If you started doing all them now and didnt sleep or even move from your pc until they were done it would prolly take you a week maybe, and by that time there will prolly be the same amount again around.

Think saturday was just a mega non stop effort, which is benefitting me now as i did so many iam now alot more relaxed and ready for each day.

(no ruddy wins so far - but its very early days;))

(and just stopped today after starting at 3.30pm (thats 8h 30 mins)
