Pepsi £500 Every Hour Competition cheating

Did anyone see the story in the Mail about a family who entered this promotion over 11,000 times and had multiple wins. Pepsi believed they had used an automated entry system and refused to pay out, quite rightly in my view. But the company was censured by the Advertising Standards Authority for doing this

The headline gives the impression that Pepsi behaved badly, though I can't imagine many people agreeing with that view.

Someone also complained that the codes where were not unique and had been posted on internet forums. I wonder where that could have happened?

some people are so desperate - it is sad! Probably on the dole - if they put as much effort into finding a job.....I say no more!

Wow! Fed up of seeing the greed come through on so many of these competitions! Rules should be made clear and companies (not just Pepsi) should make them so it's one per person / IP address - not one for you, then you can enter for the other 100 members of your family / friends! If the luck is with you then you'll win with 1 entry, not 100s! ITV are becoming just as bad - up to 6 times per number, then we have people openly admitting that they use friends and families numbers to enter :mad:

Why can't people just stop being greedy?!

So true but I don't know how people find the time to enter so many times. I can honestly say that I enter the ITV comps 6 times using my mobile number and I couldn't be bothered to find the extra time to repeat this another 6/12/18/24 times using other numbers! I have a life!

I really do wish companies could check IP addresses! I know a blogger who says she can check for multiple entries via her Rafflecopter - as this shows the IP address from every entrant. maybe that is why many Facebook comps are now adding a Rafflecopter????? Does anyone know if Facebook Apps log IP addresses too? Maybe they do as I have noticed more pages using them?

Couldn't agree more. It ruins it for the rest of us. Companies will eventually stop running comps if they are going to get bad press like this one!

Re the ITV's I agree they should sort it out - one entry per person or per household would be much better in my opinion.

According to an article I read they had to pay each family member £500 each.

ETA - I don't know how many family 'members' this included.
