HOW MANY ENTRIES etc..

Options
Thought id post a quick thread about entering comps..
Someone on the times sunday said theyd entered 'on behalf' of her parents, and i know alot of people do this.

In virtually EVERY comp there is a line in T&Cs that says 'entries must be made directly by the person entering'
So if you are entering on behalf they can see it from your IP address thus your entry will be void.
The times weekend comps also state ONE PER HOUSEHOLD which means just 1 entry - no entering for your cats/dogs/nieces/nephews etc..

I say this to try and help the newer compers who say i never win.
I ONLY enter for me on my computer, and have won 50+ prizes totalling over £10k in 11 months, and EVERY SINGLE prize ive won has been 1 SINGLE ENTRY (£1k laptop, £1k in cash etc)

So dont believe that trying to beat the system will work because it wont.
I didnt believe anything i read on here in my first few weeks about what people have won but after speaking to several regualrs they have all pretty much said it was 'just one entry'
(cant remember who it was but someone won an itv comp a while ago with 1 phone number entered 3 times)
And ive seen that time and time again.

Where you may think hehe ive entered this comp 10 times, the company aint gonna tell you they will disqualify you if they find youve *cheated(didnt want to use that word) you name just wont go into the draw and youre none the wiser.

Its upto yourselves take my advice or dont, but im trying to help more people realise you can win by just a bit of hard work.
My biggest tip is unless you are entering 100+ a day youre probably not going to win much.
And all the extra time youve taken to enter youre friends/family/pets couldve and wouldve been better spent entering MORE competitions rather than spending 20 minutes entering just 1.

Your choice good luck however you comp

Some good ideas there some not so good:-)

Each comp has the same odds for each.I started comping via Prizefinder in 2008 but soon found MSE & roboform,
Via my 30 odd entries per week I won a trip to NY.

Cheers Prizefinder, although they did not help re answers etc as we do :-)

Just trying to help anyone whos struggling, iam in the very lucky position of being well infront, and have advents perfectly organised.

Even now looking for new ones, yesterday took me 14 hours to do what i thought was a decent amount and today after sorting out the good from the chaff its taken only 5 hours.

But 1 thing is true tho that if a comp says 'must be made directly by the person' or '1 per household' its not worth chancing being disqual is it for an extra entry.
(im now believe it or not going through twitter for a complete change, never ever done more than 10 in a week)

Its so weird, i was dreading decmeber after all your reports about the sheer amount, but somehow its just all slotted nicely into place, i think yourself and a few others have helped me over the last couple of months and thats given me the edge.
    Cheers wee and good luck.

(and although i say 100+ a day yes you can win obviously by just entering a fair amount per week like 30-50 but the odds are lower, but there again my mum won a luxury weekend away, and my dad a dvd boxset - and i didnt even know about those comps, and they enter prolly 30 a week between them)

  • 14 hours - fourteen?!

Wow, that's the amount of time I was awake.

Do you do dailies? I don't bother with them as I think it could easily get addictive ..

I've found having some system of recording entries avoids me entering competitions twice.

I've only been comping about four months and am refining my notebook system to suit me.

Dailies have their own page. And in the new year any that hold regular 1 entry only will have their own page with prize details and closing date, so I can check quicker and avoid duplications.

Doesn't the green tick stop you from duplicating entries?
  • Wow, feel such a noob reading this!! Tap away on ,y ipad, no idea if I have entered the same comp more than once unless someone says its a dupe! Really hoping I win something soon.....doing about 100 a day! The thought of winning some of the amazing prizes keeps me going!

    Hi,Merchandiser2367

A good way of avoiding duping your entries is to click the green tick as you enter the comp. Before it was introduced we used to click the Thanks button & many still tick both as a "belt & braces" reminder.
    Good luck

  • Thanks for the advice weeowens! On the ipad, there is a cross, not a tick? I do mark but worried if there are multiple enters routes.....

    Hi,Merchandiser2367

We are usually quite good at spotting the multiple routes & merging them.FB comps can be problematic though as there is often a non Fb route.

I would advise picking a comping portal eg MSE and only entering via that one. Most comps find their way here.

If you do not have the tick just go back to how we used to do it & use the thanks button to show that you've entered.
