Right, I've decided. I need to shake up my life a bit. I spend so much of my time sitting on my backside, when my house needs cleaning and money needs saving, debts need paying and assignments need writing..... So my new year will start tomorrow.... I really need to start putting my best foot forward, and not wait for new year to start my resolutions, the time is now! And IF I happen to fall off the wagon in the next 29 days, I will be able to start afresh on the first of January, with the knowledge of what I did wrong and how to rectify it and not to make the same mistakes again

The things I want to change.

I want to look better and therefore feel better
I want a tidy house
I want to have savings stashed for my teacher training
I want to be out of my OD and not have anything on my CC
I want to spend quality time with OH
I want to spend quality time with Roo and the new baby when it arrives
I want an uncluttered, clean house
i want to spend more time on my assignments and get the grades I know I can achieve.

So i need to start the steps to have all of these things, as I went out for a wintery walk this morning with baby Roo I started to think of ways of achieving my goals.

A routine i think is the most important thing thing I can put into practice, and then all of these things should be easy to slot in. But I need a routine I can stick too, not one of my usual, lets try and do a million things in a day.

Roo needs smore of a structure then hopefully I can fit a routine around him. I need to do sme sort of cleaning every day, so that by the end of the week my whole house would have had a good clean. I'm going to have a good look at flylady and see what I can do every day.

I need to spend just a little bit of time every day making myself look half decent instead of looking like a great big mess every day, it shouldn't take long, I just neglect myself and I know I shouldnt. I used to make such an effort.

I need to start saving money and selling things on ebay asap. My plan to start forging my way forward on the debts and savings is small to start with along with ebaying everything to get rid of the clutter and make some much needed money. I also intend on making everything from scratch food wise, and the money I save on the shopping, I will put into my savings pot. It doesn't sound like it will amount to much, but it really does, as we have bags and bags of bread flour, so free bread, thats a saving of nearly £5 a week, changing brands, instead of tesco brown rice, buying tesco value white rice which is a quarter of the price, having porridge for breakfast instead of expensive cereals, making pasta, fajitas, chips, all the things I usually pay for the convenience of having, I can save money on making. I'm hoping I can save atleast £50 a month this way. I want to pay off my OD and CC first before I start saving.

I'm thinking if I have more of a routine then the evenings can actually be spent with OH without spending all evening, washing, clearing up or cooking dinner.

I need to allocate some hours in the evening to my assignments too and to clearing up after roo. So that my afternoons can be spent having quality time with roo.

hmm just been out for another walk, as roo wouldnt sleep and have been thinking (always dangerous!) I would probably be better to start with a sort of time table, that can factor in off chance things too, so that I don't fall down with things if I want to go out etc.

Right time to come up with a plan, bear with me!

    right routine at the moment:

wake up anything from 5.30-6.45. make a cup of tea and me and roo will sit in bed and watch tv til
8.45/9ish, when I'll sling any old clothes on, get roo dressed and go down and make me and roo breakfast.

9-9.30ish clear up a couple of bits in the kitchen, maybe put a washload in.

after that I just sort of sit in the lounge playing with Roo adn watching tv, talking to OH on the internet etc until about

10.30 put roo to bed for an hour

Ill maybe make the bed, hang up the washing, think of what to make for lunch, sit down and have a coffee, come on here.

    11.30-12.30 play with roo

12.30 make roo lunch and have some myself.

1.00 tidy up lunch things then spend some time playing with roo

    2.30ish go for a walk

3.30 try and calm down a very tired roo who wont go to sleep, try in vain to make something for dinner, try and play with roo but hes usually so tired and grumpy hes screaming at this point.

4.30 make roo dinner and me

    5.00 feed roo,

    5.30 bath roo

    6.00 give roo his milk

    6.30-7ish free for the evening

which is obviously a lot of time but god knows what I do in this time, it just seems to disappear. It doesnt help that i dont like to sit downstairs on my own, I tend to go upstairs to bed and sit on the internet watching tv, in bed as its cozy and warm, and obviously I fall asleep stupid early:o:mad:.

So that is my day..... god I spend a lot of time sitting around doing nothing! Well running around after roo, that needs to change, god I'm ashamed of myself for not really achieving anything in a day:o!! I do have odd days where I do loads to make up for my laziness, and clean like a mad thing (usually when someone is coming round :o)

Well im going to sit an analyise my 'free time' and see where i can start to slot in all the things I need to. Any ideas and thoughts are very welcome.

Ok after much thought I have come up with the start of my plan. The reason very little gets done, is beause I spent far too much time on the internet, either on here reading diaries, or on my phone just reading blogs and generally wasting time, when I can be doing far more productive things. Now don't get me wrong, I really need this thread for much help and motivation, but I don't need to sit on here for hours every day!!!

Right coming up with a plan on word then will cut and paste when done, thanks for reading :)
  • Hi missymoo and happy new diary:T
I have just the same problem...wasting time on the internet, it's a pastime of mine:rotfl: I'm always full of good ideas and good intentions, but my days have a tendency to pass by with me not having done much:o
So I shall be reading your plan and hoping some will rub off on me! Most of your things you want to change I could have written about myself too;)

    Good luck, I've subscribed:)
I really need to sort out a new signature!

    hey Pixie!

    Lovely to see you :)

Oh I know, it is so easy to sit down with a cuppa and just chill out reading bits and pieces on the internet.

Well I've written my plan, well its more of a timetable to be honest, as that is really what I need at the moment, to get me into a routine and some sort of structure of doing things every day. My routine will differ slightly when OH is home. And also at the moment things are in such a mess I really need to spend some extra time sorting those out before I can think about doing anything else. so I have highlighted all of these in different colours. Its a bit all over the place at first but it will settle down when my house is a little bit more organised. It should only take a couple of days to get rid of the worst of the mess.

Ok am starting my new routine and I have already come across a stumbling block. Although my routine is good for making me do things and not wasting time. At this very moment the houswe is in such a mess, it needs much more than half an hour here and there to clean it. When the house is clean and tidy etc the routine should in fact work really well, but today it is a bit difficult, for instance I am already on my second load of washing with 3 more to do. The kitchen is a bombsite from making soup yesterday. I really need to change the bed. The spare room is in such a mess again, due to it being a dumping ground.

Soooo revised plan for the rest of this week, is to clear up the whole house in every spare moment and have roo playing along side me, so that hopefully my routine can start with avengence later on in the week. I will write down later what I have managed to achieve today. I promise I will spend no time sitting on my backside doing nothing. Yes I know i am not on an allocated computer time, but I thought I would update you and hope that I can gain some much needed, support, advice and encouragement.

    Ta ta til later, Missymoo

    Wow, that's a brilliant timetable:T
I think your idea of really getting the house tidy and organised this week is sensible, then it will be easier to keep on top of it. I always have that intention but then let it slip...oops:o
See, that's me just in from work...I have until about 4 when my girls get home from school (but they're 15 and 13 so don't need me to be available every minute!) - I have sat down with a cuppa and the Internet, and I probably won't do anything useful for a while;)

Keep posting lists of what you have achieved, I find that motivates me - a 'ta dah, look-what-I've-done list as opposed to a to-do list!

I work in a school so get regular school hols - I always have great ideas of what I'll get done then the time comes and I just lounge about, spend hours pooling online and just waste weeks. It's so easy to do:)
I really need to sort out a new signature!

Hey Pixie, Well Roo's just one so he's constantly needing me, and with another on the way I'm feeling it a bit.

Oooh how interesting you work in a school, I used to do that, hence the reason for my assignments, I'm trying to finish my degree (in the next 3 years hopefully) so that I can then do teacher training and become a teacher :)

Well I have been very busy today, although not solely on tidying :( I have actually made a good start on my christmas shopping :)

    But I have also:

    Done 3 loads of washing
    cleared the spare room
    changed the bed
tidied up the mountain of clothes
    sorted the drawers
    thrown lots out
Break down all the boxes and put in recycling
    hoovered all of upstairs
sorted all of the washing into piles
    sorted charity shop stuff
moved stuff to their appropriate homes
    emptied the bins
bagged up 5 meals for Roo

so not too bad for today, consequently I have really neglected downstairs, it still resembles a bomb site, so that is tomorrows job!

I have been thinking, and I've forgotten to factor in some things into my routine like: wiping skirting boards, hoovering the stairs, cleaning bathroom floors etc. so I need to come up with a plan to fit these in.

I really need to work on my assignment tonight, so I have decided to break it down into half an hour blocks, as I really dont want to do it. But first I'm going to have some tea.
