My DD then aged 4 asked for a very large cardboard box one Christmas. I had to phone round a few of the big white good warehouse places before I found a manager with a sense of humour. Also a large car, he dropped the box (from a large chest freezer) round himself, bless him.

That box lasted for months too, it was a castle, a wendy house, a bed (!), a train, a car and a pet hospital, amongst many other things. My DD still talks about it as one of her best ever presents.

Have you tried freecycle? Not for the iPhone but foot spas are the kind or thing that people have taking up room at the back of their cupboards?

My 3 1/2 year old has asked for pedals for his bike (he has a balance bike)

I think Santa can stretch to a bike with padals :-)
  • last year ds (4) asked for a massive, real life t-rex  i had to dissapoint him & try to explain that it would probably eat us!

so he changed his mind and asked for a triceratops instead because they dont eat meat :rotfl:

  • My kids have asked for "real" hoovers so they can help me do the hoovering. Sweet of them but it's a "no" from me. (I got a new hoover recently, which is maybe wherein the novelty lies.) The rest of their Christmas requests have been pretty normal.

How about Crumb pets fun, cheap, and less dangerous in little hands than a real vacuum too. :) My mum bought one the other year, and asked me if I wanted one for Christmas last year - I have admit I declined! lol :rotfl:

Thanks for the suggestion but our home is cluttered enough. They are too savvy to be fobbed off with an alternative - it's easier for me just to say "no". ;)
  • my dd has asked for a pocket sized packet of tissues :)
