When DD was about 5 or 6 all she wanted a plank (Scaffolding board) goodness knows why......thanks to a friends generous hubbie he dropped one off on xmas eve I attached a big bow to it and left it propped up outside back door with a note from santa saying it was too big to get down chimney. But she did play with it for years it was a seesaw, bridge, etc & now 12+ years later its still in the garden.0

My niece 2 years ago asked for an elephant - she was 2 at the time!! Last year she asked for a giraffe and her exact words to my granny (her great granny) was "and make sure its a real one, not a pretend one" Unfortunately santa just couldnt deliver it and we had to explain that their back garden would just be too small. I did end up buying her a years membership to a local wildlife trust, she got magazines, puzzles, stickers etc posted to her so that kept her happy. This year she has asked for cookie monster, nothing else just a cookie monster! My nephew is a bit easier and just wants a blue car, its his sister that has the ever creative mind! We are just pleased she hasnt asked for any other wild animal yet lolLife is what you make it.0

When my daughter was seven, she asked Father Christmas to make her baby brother better. In April of that year, her brother was born with several rare birth defects that, if not operated on, would cause his death. His first surgery was at nine hours old, to save his life. Just before this, he had been given four hours to live. My daughter saw my son when he was a day old, still in PICU, with ventilator and various tubes. I didn't see him until the following day as I was in a different hospital.
My baby boy is now 14. He has long term effects from his initial operations, but is very proud of his scars and will happily show them to anyone who wants to see them . He also has Down's Syndrome. My daughter is still very close to her little brother.
Her wish wasn't fully granted, but my son did get better to some extent. He can now enjoy some foods, rather than a liquidised diet, and except for planned surgery, he hasn't been a patient in hospital since he was six weeks old. Although her wish didn't come fully true, we're happy with the outcome, as we nearly lost my son several times in those early years.0 -
