OP, my other half was arrested for exactly the same thing as you. Someone broke into his home and he ended up breaking several of the burglars bones in self defence . He was also arrested but then the CPS decided (sensibly I might add) to drop the case against him. We went to the US last year and just filled in the ESTA online, no problems whatsoeverever as he has technically never been charged with any crime. I suggest you have been wrongly informed!
Be very careful about the details...
Under US law, anyone who has ever been arrested for a crime involving moral turpitude must get a visa: the fact that he was not charged is irrelevant. The key fact in your situation is that the alleged crime did not involve "moral turpitude".0 -

Looks like they may have found a way of making money out of daft beggars like me! lol
Indeed.
So at this stage you could halt the visa application process (no chance of a refund but at least no further expense). The problem with that is that US Immigration would surely know that you had begun the process of visa application and not completed it, so you would then have to be prepared for a detailed grilling on arrival.0 -
Thats my only problem, I've applied for a ACPO cert now. Apparently the Homeland security and their Immigration dept don't have the same ideas. Its up to the officer on the immigration desk when I get there if they let me in, one office says its ok the other doesn't. I know its too late now and back tracking may cause me problems but, trust me I would rather pay the money than face the wrath of GF if I got sent home after landing!
Just hope that someone reads my thread and it saves them the trouble. Thanks for your advice.0 -
I cant believe it was that much to start off with. Ive gone to Hawaii for 2 weeks for that price for 2 people.0

Well I'd love to know how you flew?
Economy flights were £600+ each return. I upgraded to premium economy for extra leg room and to keep me from committing murder on the way there!0 -
When is the holiday booked for? I believe that visa applications can take some time to be processed.0

Wouldn't it be cheaper to get exit row seats for around £50 each?
Ive done this in the past on trips to the US, don't think I'd bother again though as there is enough leg room imo on economy flighs and Im 6ft 1!0 -

Interesting...I'm 5' 8" and regularly arrive with bruised knees due to the full recliners I always seem to end up behind.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

Really ?
It does depend on the time of the year of course , but last year we did San Francisco then a 5 day trip to Maui , the flights to Maui cost us £2500 alone , let alone the hotel !Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0
