just had a quick look at Hasting Direct and it looks like they could be cheaper. But as my insurance renews in June I can only get a rough quote.

    Thanks for that

Well I've been brave and cancelled my phone insurance! I think that £7 a month is too much money really, hope I've made the right decision!

Dont worry you've done the right thing.

I was with orange and had my phone stolen, they agreed to send me out a new handset the next day if I agreed to take out their insurance. They did and took the money out of my next bill, however T&C's state you can cancel within 30 days so I did and got my money back.

This is prob v cheeky but also v moneysaving! Phone insurance is a rip off!!

    Hey Lucy,

I'm going to be cancelling my phone insurance this week too. Glad you're doing well.

Just an idea - I don't know what takeaway you're having but if it's chinese or indian you could save a bit of £££ by cooking your own rice.

I was thinking about that. Although OH does like pawns in his  or as I never eat all of mine, I might try to talk him out of pawns (I can't stand them) and steal some of his rice! Or I might just pick the pawns out :D

But I think we managed to eat for about £13 last week so it's not so bad.

    Hi Yellow Monkey

Your right is it exciting. I keep ringing my friends with all my money saving deals. I still have a long way to go and a lot to learn, but I feel like every little step is in the right direction!

I'm very proud of myself right now.

  • Hi Lucy1982

I'm really glad you're on board with the money saving and DFW journey. Don't worry about becoming obsessed, we're all the same, I smiled all day last week when I cancelled a sports membership that cost me about three quid a month!!!

I like to add up all my debt on the 1st of each month, and have been doing so since LBM end Dec - it's sooo nice to see the total debt reducing every month, and really satisfying to update the sig with total debt paid to date.

Good luck - I look forward to reading your thread and following your progress :D

    Morning all.

Well I got really excited this morning as I've paid my 2 loans repayments for this month I thought I would recalculate what I owe and see how much I've paid off. And it came to the grand total of £30!!!!! I hate interest!! Need to pay it off as quickly as possible!

I've never actually bothered to look at it like that every month and just assumed that the amount went down... I've suddenly realised that making minimum repayments on loans is not good. So I'm going to try and pay off my store cards asap so I can throw some extra money at the loans.

Although I still have a few payments to go out so hopefully that figure will get better as the month goes on! But I had a relatively cheap weekend, which I'm very impressed with as they are my downfall!

But as it is the start of a new week I'm looking forward to as much money saving as possible, I've cleared out my piggybank and I going to stick all of my change in there and see how much I get at the end of the month. I've read a bit more of Martin's book so hopefully I'm picking up more tips!

Just had a quick look at the rest of this months repayments and realised I should end up paying off about £100 from my debt total. Still not great but better than I thought this morning. I've also worked out that I should be able to pay off one of my store cards next month which would give me another £30 to throw at the other one. :j

I'm still waiting for Sky broadband to go live at home and then I think I'll hit ebay. I've never had much luck but we shall see.

My NSD has failed.... realised that I needed stamps, work's lottery money had to be in and I needed some bits from Sainsbury's at lunchtime. But there is still hope, I'm going to aim for a NSD tomorrow and see what happens.

Still hunting for car insurance, got a quote from Tesco this morning which was good and didn't have a stupid excess on it, so that looking up, I might be about to save about £25 a month if I can find a good deal. More money to throw at the debt :T

    Have a good afternoon :A
