Thanks to this thread I am now questioning the £6.95 a month I spend on phone insurance. Not sure it's really worth it!
I hadn't really thought about it either. But I'm really careful with my phone so it seemed pointless wasting money on it.

Let us know how you get on

Well I've been brave and cancelled my phone insurance! I think that £7 a month is too much money really, hope I've made the right decision!

    Em

My thinking was that once I have cleared my overdraft and store cards I can always think about taking a cheaper deal out.

But at the moment it needed to go.

    Good luck

When you read the fine print about phone insurance you soon realise that its definitely not worth it!!!!

I had that conversation with Orange regarding mine at £5 a month!
They offered to cancel my charge for itemisied billing if I kept the insurance, and I said why when cancelling insurance will save me £5 but you're deal only saves me £1.23? Idioto!

But well done on all the savings you've made so far, its a continuous process I think, always some money to be knocked off somewhere!

The next big one to tackle is my car insurane. I'm currently paying £63.40 per month (High I know!) But I've already been shopping around and the Post Office have come back with a quote of £35.04 a month. So I'm hoping to be on for a reallt good saving there!

I had Orange insurance. When my phone broke, they charged me £25 administration fee on top of the monthly premiums I'd been paying for a year!!! Wasn't impressed.

On my (non orange) current phone, if it broke, I'd buy a cheap older phone (probably from ebay) and use that till I could take out a new contract ;)

Also, Virgin and some other phone companies will sell refurbished phones to you.

When you do go ahead with new insurance don't forget to use a cashback site and maybe get some extra money back. !! Have a look at Top Cash Back or Quidco, you can get quite a bit of money from some firms (assuming that they are the lowest or one of the lowest quotes).

Don't know what excess you normally have on your car insurance, but be careful with the Post Office as there mandatory minimum is £250 !

I check the excess I had a really cheap quote from Churchill but the compulsory excess was £600!!!!!!!

Post Office gave me £150 I think, but thanks for the advice I'll double check all my quotes

Hi Lucy - have you been on confused.com to look for car insurance? I went with Hastings direct and found them to be the cheapest for me (20yrs old, 1 yr no claims) x
