My beautiful, fussy, pernickety, stressy Mitzi wasn't right last night.
She's been ill, but last night, it was different, so I stayed up with her, listening to her breathing getting a little wheezy. At about 2am, she called for me, something she never had to do because she was my shadow all day.
I knew then.
I wrapped her up in a blanket and took her upstairs, laying her beside my head and I gently cleaned her face with baby wipes. As I could feel myself dozing off, the wheezy sound changed to a tiny purr.
This morning, I awoke to find her still here, having managed to pull herself onto my pillow and with her paw in my hand. I had wanted to avoid a long journey to an emergency vet, but I don't think she wanted to go.
So I took her, still wrapped in the blanket, to the vet.
And she relaxed even as they inserted the line, calm, looking deep into my eyes as I kissed her beautiful biscuity nose and whispered to her 'time for a sleep, Mitz, it's time to go home'.
I'm going to miss her.

I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

So, so sorry to hear about your loss... it's hard to lose someone you love isn't it?
You took care of her when she needed it the most and that is the best thing in the world. That's the hard thing about loving pets - their lives have a different timetable to ours.
It will get less painful and, one day, you'll be able to look at her favourite spots and remember all the good stuff.
Best wishes.... and kind thoughts.

Oh dear, your post made me sob too, so I can only imagine what you are going through. However you undoubtedly did the 'right thing' and she just slipped away peacefully.
Take care there.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Screen's blurry. I hope this is taken the right way, but what a nice end, a total understanding between animal and owner, hopefully that's a source of comfort xx0

This made me cry
I'm counting down the days for my own little lady, can't see her making it to christmas. I can't do it myself though, got a friend on stand-by if I feel she's starting to suffer before passing away naturally. She's 23 years old so will leave a huge whole in my heart“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
((((((HUGS))))))), and tears for you. xx0
