Hi guys just an update as people maybe aren't seeing the edit I put on my post.

W're not making him wear a cravat, he will have a tie, but this is more just now an ongoing worry that there's other stuff he won't be able to cope with, e.g. speech, the number of people etc.

Will just have to see though... :)

    Hi,
when I got married (nearly 25 years ago!) my dad had a few health problems. He walked me down the aisle but didnt make a speech.
Instead my eldest brother went and and stood behind my dad and put his hands on his shoulders and gave a lovely speech, so involving my dad.
My dad is no longer with us but the most important thing is that he was there and shared my day.
Good luck with your wedding.i hope you can resolve everything.

    he doesn't have any ushers " :(

Who will be directing guests to the correct seating area of the church if you don't have ushers?

Ushers are also critical for arranging transport for guests from church to reception and for generally assisting the best man & groom.

    Perhaps you need a rethink?
I am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.

You don't need ushers to do these tasks. There's no rule that says you have to have specific seating areas. Surely guests have already arranged themselves how to get to the reception from the church?

Not entirely sure why my thread has got resurrected and for anyone interested this is now all solved :)

However I'm slightly amused by the above comment, at all weddings I have been to the Ushers did absolutely nothing except give me an order of service!!!

That's not to say they can't have more jobs if needed but we are having a small, personal wedding and giving various people different jobs, so mine and OH's parents have helped people with transport and OH plus his best man, dad and my uncle and cousin will be sorting out seating etc at the church.

Now that it's less than 8 weeks away I wish I'd realised even sooner how few so-called wedding traditions you really need :)

Hope it all goes well. Just noticed you're getting married on my birthday.

That is soooo funny, I can't for one moment think you are serious, yet you sound as though you are.

Our guests are all capable of finding a chair, and sitting down. And sorting transport? Critical? OMG no wonder some brides have meltdowns before their day if this is the way some people go on.

TQ I totally agree with your points.

I think this post is a wind up.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
