Good for you with the languages Sue-UU!
My French is good but I'm learning German and I find it really difficult - wondering whether I'm too old to learn another one but I really would like to speak Italian - it sounds so lovely!
    Never!

If you've learnt one language fluently (English!) then you can learn another to some proficiency no matter what age you are. The biggest problem that non-native speakers who learn later in life (i.e. over the age of about 14) is that the pronunciation will never sound *quite* right, but it's easy enough to overcome.

Just take it slow, figure out your problem areas (listening skills? written skills - word order, vocab or grammar? etc) and work on them, keep it ticking over by watching TV or listening to radio in the language of your choice and you'll be grand :)

Former language student and current psychology student ;) I tried learning Italian at A level but found it so, so hard - much harder than German!

Well, I'm french so I can't know for english native language, but if you speak french, I found Italian is easier to learn than german. I speak italian but I can't learn german because words, pronunciation and grammar are so differents!

  • Hey guys, would love to join the sealed pots! Might be moving in the middle of the year so it would be great to know that xmas would be paid for in advance without having to worry about it. Currently at work so shall make my sealed tin when I get home with whatever is available!

My OH is horrible with change and always throws it away so every little into our pot would definitely help!

Perhaps make your pot in the shape of a bin so he knows where to throw his change :)

Sue will be along to give you a number. Please read post 1 so you know what's what (also passes away those boring friday work hours)

We will all look forward to hearing your news and potting antics :)

...and we'd love to have you with us, tatabubbly! A very warm welcome to you. biggrin.gif Have fun saving. You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 5 of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge.

*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.

Very excited - had a low spend day and can now pot everything left over :T
Am very proud to say £4.36 in the tin tonight, woohoo! :D

Happy potting everyone, hope its a bit warmer where you all are - we hit -5 last night!

No wonder you're excited, Savingforsomeday, £4.36 is a great going!!! :T It is bitter here with a biting bitterly cold wind!! My DH remarked about it when we were out earlier, but I can't repeat it, he's naughty! :o

have also brought all my family a sealed tin for xmas to hopefully start them on the way for next xmas

Me too, ladsmadd, though our DD is notoriously bad for saving. I find it so frustrating as I get such a buzz out of it. Ah well, we can't make folk do things. Our lad's the opposite, his DW too, so I'm pleased about that. :) As for DGC's, I think it goes in for a while then out again! :( One day!

I love the Christmas concerts the kiddies put on, Mumof3plusoh, so pleased you enjoyed DD2's. Maybe next time with the raffle!

I've subscribed so I can keep up with the fun new tin new year new start! :D

Excellent, AJGray! It really does help even more to keep you saving. You want to be like a kiddie in a sweet shop, do so, I know I would! :j

Morning sparky! :rotfl:I did have to laugh at what J said about you upping your savings to match QueenRiderBrekke's. She wants to be careful what she wishes for though or her purse will be permanently empty! Naughty naughty!!! I'm not at all surprised to hear you both planning for 2014, it won't be long now until NY & Chicago.

I agree completely, kiss_me_now, it may be at a slower rate, but I'm sure determination and patience are the fundamentals whichever language we choose to learn. Watching TV or listening to radio really does help immensely.

Thanks also for your thoughts, chupachups, it's interesting to learn the problems we all have with our language learning. I find Mi*hel Thomas very good to learn with, anyone any other thoughts. I've often wondered about R*setta St*ne...anyone?

Now then back on topic :grinheart

BTW = By the way, chupachups. The acronyms used here are DH = darling husband; DW = darling wife; DD = darling daughter; DS = darling son; DGS and DGD = darling grandson or daughter; and DGC = darling grandchild/ren. Please, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. :)

Hiya Mel, 1lb in weight already! Ah! I guess that includes the pot..well, it would have to really now wouldn't it. :o

    Brilliant, WantToBeSE! £3 is goooood!

No wonder you're jumping for joy, Emily! 10p is great...and better than mine, but I'm hopeful of tomorrow!! :D We always do shopping for an elderly friend, then take it to her on a visit on Saturdays, then when we come out DH always hands me the money to pot!!!! :j That way we force ourselves to save more.
Perhaps make your pot in the shape of a bin so he knows where to throw his change :)

A great idea, Ruth! Though tatabubbly, you might need to carry it around wherever he goes!

Ah, she' ignoring us, Rosy, but never fear, she can't keep quiet for too long!!! :rotfl:
Take note of the following, girls.

Don't wash your hair in the shower !

It's so good to finally get a health warning that is useful! THIS INVOLVES THE SHAMPOO WHEN IT RUNS DOWN YOUR BODY WHEN YOU SHOWER WITH IT. A WARNING TO US ALL!!! Shampoo Warning! I don't know WHY I didn't figure this out sooner! I use shampoo in the shower! When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body, and printed very clearly on the shampoo label is this warning, "FOR EXTRA BODY AND VOLUME." No wonder I have been gaining weight! Well! I got rid of that shampoo and I am going to start showering with Sunlight dishwashing liquid instead. That label reads, "DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE." Problem solved! If I don't answer your emails, I'll be in the shower!
