only this morning in Asda had to bring cashiers attention to the buy 3 for £10 deal. I am sick of buying things and because I am busy packing I dont realise they have not gone through and the discount credited. If I then want to get it sorted out the customer service queue is so long I feel it's not worth the hanging about and made to feel like a penny pinching scrooge.
:rotfl: The world is my lobster:rotfl:
  • Regarding my post above about the rice, maybe there is a world shortage of rice or something because Asda's price has also rocketed for Uncle Ben's 2 minute mircrowave (£1.61) while the Tilda rice is £1.63! So all the rice seems to have gone up by around 33% in just a few weeks EXCEPT if you buy it from Poundland, they are selling the Tilda at £1 a packet and HP baked beans at £1 for 4 tins while some supermarkets go £1.99 for 4.

I also noticed that Uncle Ben's boil in the bag Basmati rice is £2.99 for a box of four while the Morrisons own brand is 97p for the same four bag box.

Morrisons Full Fat Soft Cheese is 87p for the same size tub as the Philadelphia which is £1.84 and honestly I've tried it and you cannot tell the difference, it's like the exact same stuff with a different label
  • I buy food for a smaller food retailer, and can confirm the cost of rice has more than doubled this year, as has the price of pasta, among a lot of other staples.
You won't see the RSP double though - thanks to the price war in the supermarkets. At least this is one area where inflation will not be so evident, but I guess the ongoing prices will have gone up quite a bit.
I always buy these kind of things on deal, then store them up - rice has soooo long a date on it.

If you're anywhere near a Sainsburys their basics rice was 73p for a Kg bag last time I was there, and I find it very good.

I am sure someone has already noticed - in case you have not- the prices in Aldi seem to be creeping up. Baked beans were 22p now 29p and the basic tinned tomatoes have increased from 19p to 33p. I thought I had inadvertently picked up the more expensive tomatoes. At this rate it will be as cheap to shop in Waitrose! I have not noticed other prices - yet - and of course the 69p vegetables are a good price. I have compile a spreadsheet to compare prices at all the places I shop, and will let you know if I notice other price hikes!
  • I too have noticed Aldi going up for the regular stuff. Toilet rolls, kitchen roll, shaving gel, handwash. I suppose it's just in line with other shops unfortunately. Fuel prices are down but not shopping costs

Hi, I just wanted to warn everyone who internet shops with Asda. Make sure you check your items and prices when you get them - esp prices on sub items. I've only shopped with them twice, 1st time 20 items were missing and £6 of pricing was: wrong. 2nd order 4 prices were wrong with sub items & special price items. Thought you might all just want to know. Not sure if it happens with other supermarkets too.

:money:[/QUOTE had the same problem at tesco, shelf edge ticket offer expired at midnight, was told it was my fault for not checking!!could not get a refund as customer services were not open, told to come back when they were.
  • I'm new here so I hope i'm posting in the right place. I have been buying Nestle variety pack cereals which are around £1.21 a pack for 8 cereals. On each small pack there is a 25p voucher for more cereals. If you use these on the normal tills they will only take a couple of them at one time and most supermarkets now you have to buy the item in question but if you go to the self service desks at Asda and Tesco you can use a load at one time and not buy the item on the voucher. So in reality you are being paid 79p to eat the cereals. What a bargain

I was in my local Sainsbury's today when I noticed practically every bar of chocolate (especially cadbury's) has gone up by around an extra 10p. Has anyone else noticed this?
Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!

Yes rice prices can go up and down. Don't forget Lidl, they sell lovely easi-cook rice and I really like their packaging, in a very handy cardboard box. Good tip about stocking up, I always have rice and pasta in, it keeps so well.
