Ok, final declaration of £5928.63 for December and £18,235.92 for 2013. Absolutely smashed what I thought I could do, so lets make 2014 even better :D

Happy new year to all, and thanks again to SF for putting in the hard work to run this challenge in 2013

Sorry for the delay in updating the spreadsheet....I didn't quite reach my £4000 target although I've ended the year with savings of £3405.14 :j

In addition, I've got £900 saved for a holiday with friends this year, £380 for family holiday and £795 for insurances, road tax etc - a total of £2075. I haven't counted any of this as it's ear-marked but I'm really pleased with myself.

Thanks for the thread SlowlyFading - think I'll go and join up for 2014 now :)

Sorry for only posting for the first part of the year - buying a house, and having two on the go for 3 months, wiped out my savings very quickly. I think I managed over 4k so happy enough with that. Now back and more determined than ever on 2014 thread!

    Hi Everyone

Sorry to say I didn't do very well with the postings - loss of computer etc. However I did pop in from time to time to check what people were doing and found a lot of inspiration and good ideas. My savings came from lots of areas including mark down foods and vouchers as well as earnings and free meals from mystery shopping. My criteria was what I could pay off my mortgage - I'm very happy to say that up to December I managed to over pay the mortgage by a whooping £13K.

And I have to say a big thanks to everyone on here and MSE in general for helping me with all the good money saving ideas. And thanks to Slowly fading for keeping everyone in check. Hopefully - I'll be joining the 2014 group to try to bring the mortgage down even more! Happy new year everyone.

Well done everyone or sticking with it through the year and special thanks to Slowlyfading for running this challenge and all your hard work keeping track of updates.

I have just submitted my final updates and pleased as punch to be bang on the money for the year. Just goes to show you don't miss what you don't have available to spend: setting this thing up as a direct debt was the best thing ever and I often forgot all about it for weeks on end. Thanks again everyone!
