  • Merry Christmas Eve everyone, I've been paid early this month too and I'm declaring a whopping £1,141.12 to bring my grand total to £11,150 for the year!! YYYYAAAAASSSSSS!!!

I'm so pleased and thanks so much to Slowly Fading for running the thread and for starting the 2014 one too. Good effort!

To those thinking of joining.. just do it! Even if you save a small amount each month its worth it. My total for December is high but it wasn't like that every month. Looking back at my totals each month my lowest saving was around £150 in June but I'm so glad I stuck with it. And I have to say if you'd told me a few years ago that I'd have that much in savings I wouldn't have thought it possible so get involved people!!

I decided to whack a nice load in for my final update in 2013. Just under a grand into the ISA, plus some share options and SIP brings my December amount to £1,105 and the final total for 2013 to £6,070.

The CC took a little longer than expected to pay off, hence missing the target by miles, but 2014 should bring much better results.

  • Thank you to SF for running this. Sorry I have just updated mine oops 6 months late. Life has been busy. Well done to everyone who has made their goal. I am ready to go next year!

My personal rule for this challenge is that I only count money that i'm not making plans to spend in the future, so a fair amount of money has been put aside this year that never gets declared here. Happily a fairly large chunk of that other money has lost its purpose in life, so now counts towards savings :D

It was all saved in the first six months of the year, but rather than go back and make SF update everything i'm just going to add it to December - so now £5916.28 for this month (£2300.18 real December saving and £3616.10 added in). Waiting for about £10 in interest to turn up before I finally add up the totals for the year, but now at £18,223.57 :D:D
  • Hi folks, declaring my savings total for the year to be £11,090:j:j:D.

I am really happy with that. Out of that total I have £8030 in my emergency savings account. I am hoping to make that up to £10k with my Jan 2014 savings.

Well done to everyone on their savings this year. See you over on the 2014 board. Thanks again to SF for running the board:T.

Hi. Just confirming that I'm ending this year on £2910. #56
Not the £4k I trying to achieve, but I'm pleased considering my pay cut etc that I managed anything at all!
Thanks for doing this thread this year.

I'm a bit disappointed with myself as I only managed to save £4000 but to be fair I have for the first time enjoyed life. Going out for a meal once a week with friends, buying stuff of ebay and gumtree and spending money on myself etc.

Plus this year had a few big vets bills, in total about £700.

I'm declaring my final amount of £1249.50
    My total is £11557.61 :T
Wow! i nearly made it this time lol.
Many thanks to 'slowfading' for running these threads, who knows where my money would have gone without the encouragement of trying to reach my total.
Looking forward to next years saving. But i may 'bow out' half way through if an investment opportunity comes along.

Hello! Just popping in to say thank you for the support this year when I did get the chance to pop in to read the posts they were really motivating. I have just figured out how much I've saved this year and it has come to £9500 which I'm very pleased with!! ...but I know I can do better! So next year I'm aiming for £15,000 - probably not possible, but I will try different avenues to get there! Thank you once again :)
