Primark is definitely good for the basics. My MIL gets DS pjs, tshirts & underwear from primark & they wash really well.

I am going shopping on Saturday with my mum to our local big asda & wilkinsons for basics. I really need to buy a wardrobe for DS so baby can hac the 3/4 wardrobe. Hoping to only spend £50 max on a 2nd hand one buy may just be a canvas one to b getting on with.

Have you got plans for their bedroom? I just need a new cot bed mattress &a friend has offered us a changing table whch we didnt have with DS.

WOW Lurvlyloz, that's some amazing baby bargains.

We decorated the nursery neutral colours when we were expecting DS. It's all cream but some of the small irregular squares on the wallpaper, DH painted with primary colours on 3 of the walls so looks bright.

I think I might make some bunting to decorate the nursery and I'd like to get some curtains in there too. It only has a blind and it can get very cold in the winter there. If I pick yellows and purples it'll look girly without being too pink :rotfl:

I will definitely check out gumtree and freecycle for a wardrobe. My baby brain must be effecting my MSE ways :rotfl:

yea im glad i'd already decided on the woodlnd theme else i think it'd of been temptyed to pink it up abit too much haha.

    bit of debt talk -

i've decided to ask my lodger to move out. i cant handle the stress and agro that he causes me in the house. he is at uni at the minute but come next week he will be off until October time. as he hasnt got a job this will mean he will be at home all day everyday. we originally said to him that if he hadnt got a job come the end of june (which is when he is paid up to Rent wise), then he would have to leave. then 3 days later he went out, got really drubnk & woke me up 3 times in one night. this was week day night when both hubs and i have work the next day and so i was ANGRY! i've worked out that i just dont need the hassle and the stress, and him being at home all day everyday will cause the bills to be up rather, water elec, food etc so he's rent money is just basically paying for him to be at home all the time. so i've asked him to leave. hubs is working now & although its rubbish pay & could stop at any point, i think we'll be ok.

What does take a hit is our savings & my debt repayment.

at the moment this is how i stand:

    virgin - £150 p/m (min payment £50)
    barclay card - £60 (min payment £52)
    savings - £300.
    rent £260

how it will stand now i get £60 extra a month after a payrise:

    Virgin £75
    Barclay - £60
    Savings - £425

i know that i should be clearing my debt BUT i have to think abotu maternity leave, the fact hubs could be off work at any time (as he is a self employed tiler) and also then child minder costs in the new year. so although my debts wont be going down at the rate they were... they are still at least coming down a bit each month & i havent added to them since novemeber or touched y over draft since november.

by doing this, this is the only way im able to get our house back to being a nice place to be and not panic about things quite as much as i previously would have.

phew - thats a long post haha

been a while since i posted but i havent really got much to say moneywise at the moment.

Bit slow workwise for hubs has been for the past two weeks due to one contract ending and another one not quite started up, but luckily he's just picked up a 1 week contrcat, good pay as well so its a much needed boost for his bank account (and our savings) which is good news.

i h avent really spent anything unplanned since payday. i budget for all weekend events and so i am doing pretty well. still 3 weeks to go until payday due to silly 5 week month!

    hope everyone is ok :)

  • Morning Lurvly,

    A girl!! How exciting :D

Just caught up on your diary and your lodger sounds a bit of a pain, no wonder you were annoyed.
