Is it possible to do this on a Nexus7?

Hi Peeps,
i'm after some advice on a Christmas pressie for someone and i'm unsure whether or not it will be possible to do what the intended recipient will actually need it for.
Basically i need to know if a nexus7 can be connected to a cardreader to download photos to the device.
DH takes lots of pics with his camera and then i have to transfer them to my pc and then to his phone so that he can send them via email etc to wherever he wants them to go.
I'm hoping that i can bypass the pc part and he can connect the reader to the nexus and then put them straight on there.
Does anyone know if this can be done please?
Thanks
SD

If you get a card reader that will connect to your nexus7 by USB then this is no problem.

I can't try on mine as I've not got the correct lead - Nexus 7 is micro USB and my card reader is USB and I've no combination of leads that will make that up.
This says you can do it though ...

You'd need to sort out the right lead to do it of course.0 -
Yes, it is possible. What you need are:
1) An "On the Go" USB cable such as this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Micro-Cable-Galaxy-Toshiba-Archos/dp/B0064GZAIQ/
2) A USB card reader
2) An Android app to import the data from the card such as https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.nexususb.importer&hl=en

Surely you should be using Google Drive - Access pictures from any Android device.0

Thanks so much everyone, you are all fantastic!!
Mike - he would need to get the pics from the camera itself or the memory card that fits into the camera so would still need the pc for that to get them onto google drive in the first place.
I'll go and order the Nexus for him - he will be thrilled!

Google Drive (or Dropbox) is a good solution for sharing photos between devices but it doesn't help you import them onto your tablet or phone in the first place.
The method above is a good way of copying photos from an SD card onto your device (and into your G Drive/Dropbox storage) when you are away from your computer such as on holiday.0 -
Have you used Google Drive?0
