No Ethernet Connection Found

Hi, I have just bought a Netgear DG834G router and it works fine but the LAN port does not light up when the ethernet cable is plugged in. I think this is due to my PC not supporting ethernet but I'm not totally sure. Please can someone tell me how to fix this problem and do I need to buy any more equipment. I am connected…

after plugging the ethernet cable between the PC and router in,

try start, run cmd

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /all >c:\1.txt
notepad c:\1.txt

and copy and paste the results here (if you can)
