Please can you tell me what this means, thanks.0 -
That means your network card is fine.
Now you say that you connected ethernet cable from router to the back of PC.
Look at back of PC and tell me is there a yellow/orange LED lit up? - This is found right at the connection point.0 -
Just looked again at the ethernet connection point and can see what I think are two very small lights but they do not light up when the ethernet cable is connected.0

Ok i know for a fact NIC is working providing ur cables are plugged in right places.
This means the problem lies with your ethernet cable or the router.
Try a different network cable first as the easy step.
If still a problem, take a couple of pics of your setup so that i can see how it is and identify andy obviosu errors before getting too technical.
The orange light indicates that there is a connection/signal.0 -
Other checks you can make on the router:-
1- Do ALL the lights come on briefly when router is switched on or restarted?
2- Have you tried plugging into a different RJ45 socket on the back of the router?
3- Have you tried a hard reset?0 -
Does the yellow lead have a thick rubber 'collar' just before the plug at each end? If so, this can catch on the socket that the plug goes into, and prevent the plug from fully connecting to the socket. You should hear a definite 'click' as you push the plug into the socket.
You can peel back the rubber collar from the plug, and this will prevent it from fouling. This fouling is more likely to happen at the computer end than the router end. As others have said above, when a good connection is made, there is an indicator LED that lights up right next to the socket at the back of the PC (and at the router) when you have made a good connection.0 -

This means the problem lies with your ethernet cable or the router. My laptop can connect to the Netgear network so the router seems to be working ok although it can't connect to the internet.

The orange light indicates that there is a connection/signal. No light so obviously something wrong with the ethernet connection at the back of the PCOther checks you can make on the router:-
1- Do ALL the lights come on briefly when router is switched on or restarted? Yes.
2- Have you tried plugging into a different RJ45 socket on the back of the router? There are four sockets from the ethernet cable and I have tried them all but still no luck.

I think there must be a problem with the ethernet connection in my PC so I have emailed Mesh (who I bought the PC from) and asked them about it.0 -

Oh no, I really hope they are quick. I just needed a replacement graphics card for my parents' Mesh pc. This was back the beginning of December. Mesh still have our pc today after sending it back a third time from problems caused by their "repairs". You're best trying everything you can to solve it yourself before going down the Mesh customer service route. We wish we'd never started and only did so because we had onsite warranty so wanted them to replace the hardware on principle. Over five months later and we still don't have a working pc for something that originally could have taken me 10 minutes to fix with my own old hardware."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

There's a reset button on the back of the router to restore factory settings or unlock it.0
