More seriously, it might be time to put an end to this thread? Whether it was right or wrong for the OP to make post #2, there are now posts here from 2 posters at least that are downright abusive, rather than simply critical.

I don't 'get' the thanks button, or why people bother about it?

I'd like to see an antithanks button, for people who post tripe or are rude. It would reduce their thanks count

There is also this amount: "you have the option to write a blog for 2 months. Spend an hour a week doing it and you get £5 a week, up to a maximum of 2 months" :)

So let me get this straight, £30+£20+(£5*8 since there are approx 8 weeks in 2 months)=£70...doesn't that equal £90...am I the only one that isn't making sense of this?

Mrs Yorkie - I see where you're coming from. It's not a good feeling if you regularly post and noone bothers to thank you. I'm not talking about clicking on the 'thanks' but commenting too. However, it's not possible to know just by the number of people who have viewed a post how many have found it useful to them (this point has already been raised but it was my immediate reaction to your second post so want to pass comment).

People may have been attracted by your title but on reading had second thoughts. Although they may have thought it was a good post and would be useful to others they wouldn't necessary pass comment to you/thank you. It would take a lot of time thanking every post that has been read.

So i tell you a way to get £70 for doing practically nothing, and I don't even get a thanks!

What a rude place this is turning out to be now. I remember a time when people said thanks to other people for posting freebies, I won't bloomin bother in future.

Define IRONY: see above statement
