  • oh shut up

    Stop oppressing me.... It's discrimination!
  • I wondered the same, If you have no vertebrae then I doubt you could even stand up!

Wonder why she thinks 59 is elderly.

i doubt you are a nice person.

i did say she was in a wheelchair, i suggest you learn how to read !!
  • Come on folks! There is NO manual on what people can and can't spend windfalls/inheritence/divorce settlements on, you can't blame people for not reading minds.
  • i am neither stupid or a troll you prejudiced loser.

i came on here for genuine help because i think she is being treated unfairly but hey you can all stick your prejudices up your !!! !!!

So you actually think that the logical explanation for EVERYONE on this thread disagreeing with you is that we are ALL prejudiced against disabled people??! How utterly offensive and, frankly, narrow minded. Can you not consider, for one moment, that you might just be wrong??! In fact, your mother is being treated perfectly equally to anyone else in her situation. Nobody claiming benefits can splash that amount of cash and continue to claim without questions being answered. And as a taxpayer, I am very happy about that!

I don't doubt she's in a wheelchair although you did also say she uses sticks. ;) The disability is not the point though. Everyone has to explain why large sums of money have been spent and they could well decide that it was spent perfectly legally.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

They DON'T get it, they genuinely beleived it was due to their disability as that is why they claim benefits.

But ... if someone attacked my mother or I perceived to attack them I'd react negatively, which is what we have here. It's hard not to as that is human nature.

OP - It's NOT because of her disability - it's because she is using Tax Payers money to have a holiday of a life time, whilst tax payers can't even afford a trip to the cinema.

Whilst you are on means tested benefits (Housing Benefit is) you can't spend as you want.

That has nothing to do with disability.
  • The 1st nice thing that anyone has said.

Not really, you do yourself no favours by claiming discrimination. It's not - ANYONE on means tested benefits has the same and by making a the trip of a life time the feature of the post.

    had you said

"Mum had to move home, her car was old and she has mobility issues, she needed white goods" etc, the replies would have been positive.

To say a Trip of a lifetime (when people who post can't even afford to go to Butlins and are paying for that trip) is going to rub noses up the wrong way.

yes you don't understand Depravation of Capital, but if you re-read your original post you can kinda see why peeps are angry.

I am a taxpayer and personally dont see any issue with a person spending HER money on a holiday and a car so she can maintain her independence.

As for the money she gave me, i am paying every penny of that back , oh and i am also a taxpayer. Never been out of work in my life and yet im paying for layabouts that have never had jobs in their lives and scroungers that have kids when they cant afford them and get thousands of pounds of free money in benefits that they dont deserve, oh yes all out of MY tax money.

Plus you are missing the entire point.

The point was that i dont believe that any government body has the right to tell you how you can spend your money. Its immoral and i imagine illegal and a breach of her human rights.

She deserved that money, she deserved that holiday and i suppose you are all soo moral that if you had a big lot of money come in you wouldnt have a holiday would you.

Oh no, because that you just be too offensive against every tax payer in the country. Idiot !!
  • That's a fair comment, Princess. And with that in mind......

People on benefits can spend those benefits in whatever way they see fit. Even with Housing Benefit/LHA, there is no legal compulsion to spend it on rent, that is entirely the choice of the recipient.

However, the rules/regulations under which entitlement is established for means tested benefits is the same for everyone. I would ask the OP if he would be happy for a millionaire to claim benefits if they give their millions to their estranged wife, or children, or friend with a very expensive car repair to deal with?
