    no hun she is 59.

She lost all the vertebrae in her back when she was in her 20's and uses sticks and a wheelchair.

    59 isn't actually elderly.

How does somebody 'lose' the vertebrae in their back?

I wondered the same, If you have no vertebrae then I doubt you could even stand up!

Wonder why she thinks 59 is elderly.

    wow

    i am actually quite disgusted.

Considering they give away thousands of pounds in working tax credits and never ask for proof on spend, and child tax credits to people who have never worked and never asked for what they spend it on , i believe that what they are doing is in fact discrimination.

How can it not be ?

I have never been on benefits myself, but i just cant grasp how it is any of their business.

People claiming tax credits can have their bank accounts accessed by HMRC, therefore checks can be made and questions asked. People on on all benefits also have restrictions on savings and income and come under scrutiny it is not exclusive to HB claimants.

    It is called Spinal Spondylosis.

    the vertebrae literally crumble away.

    She went from 5t 9 to 5ft 4 in 10 years.

I would think £11k spent 'recently' is definitely going to be considered deprivation. Must have been one hell of a holiday!

The dwp dont ask for receipts of what people spend their jsa, working tax credits etc on so how is this any different ??

they are spending their benefit money, not money they have in savings and claiming benefits, that is the difference.

Anything over £16k and you are not entitled to any means tested benefits, you then get deducted an amount down to £6k I think.

Basically they are saying she spent all the money on things she didn't need so she can continue to claim.

Did i say she spent it all on a holiday ?

    no i never.

She had a new home to set up, she bought a car so she can get to the shops on her own, white goods are expensive on their own, new sofas etc, it all adds up you know.

And how would you know? Are you a doctor ??

My mother has had this condition for over 30 years. The last scan showed massive black spaces where her discs used to be.

I give up, you are quite prejudiced against people with disabilities obviously.

I don't doubt the scans but you said that she has lost all her vertebrae which is totally unrealistic.

Quite the opposite actually I have a lot of time for people with disabilities and feel very sorry for your mother but that doesn't change the issue at hand.
