On a scale of 1 to 10, how confident are you that you will remember that and not post all this whining stuff again?Nelly's other Mr. Hyde0 -
Phil - as you are turned on by robes and glitzy stuff, consider a career as a drag queen. It makes as much sense as your reason for wanting to work in a university!

Can you not see what I mean, that places like universities and charies seem to be very important in improving the world as they seem to do something special. Tesco or the Halifax just sell you stuff to make profit, there feels nothing special or important or deep in that?
To me i just do not think I could find the deepth and richness in many private sector firms to be happy working there.:beer:0 -

And as for call centres, I would probably lose the will to live if you answered the phone, but leaving that aside, why would you have to say that's where you worked? Hundreds of people round here work for Orange and Direct Line, and that's who they say they work for, not "I work in a call centre".
Heck, I had a friend who used to work for the CSA, and she never admitted that! :rotfl:

THEY ARE NOT SAYING YOU ARE NOT WORTHY. Your applications may not be up to the standard required for ALL the reasons we've gone through in such detail, but the standard can move down as well as up, but ... I'm losing the will to live already ...
I know they are not really saying I am unworthy as they have never met me and don't know me at all and I am sure if they did that I would get a job no problem.:beer:0 -

I think the key word there is 'seem.' I don't really understand why you idolise the academic world, which is basically self-serving, protectionist, snobbish, and often on a tangent to reality. In my experience, unless a particular student is strong-willed, original and mature, many courses suck up undergrads and spit them out again like some eternal conveyor-belt. What's so great about that?
Give me someone with GCSEs who can get the job done over a PhD boffin who can't operate a bank account any day.Nelly's other Mr. Hyde0 -

I don't know anything about working in the private sector. Frankly, after all these years in the charity / NFP sector, why would anyone want me? But my references would say I always gave 100% to whatever I was doing ...
If you can only put 100% into a job you feel is 'worthy', it's a pretty poor show.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I think my rage at myself will never go away until I get a job and I get some external comfirmation of being needed.
!!!!!! let's take up a collection and bribe someone to give him a job then  That sounds like an excuse to carry on talking about yourself. It's not even an original problem that you have - just typical student angst.Nelly's other Mr. Hyde0
