Whens the new xbox/playstations out?

Does anyone know when they are out and if it's worth waiting to get the new one or go for a ps3 or 360 for xmas?

I play my friends ones quite a bit but dont want waste money if new ones coming out

It's not like you need to buy one as soon as it comes out though so you could for example get a super slim PS3 for fairly cheap and maybe wait for the PS4/Xbox720 to come down in price. Maybe a year after release? So you can spend £150 on something that will last 2 years (and maybe sell for £60)
My advice would be to try and find a PS3 slim rather than super slim though cos you'll get 160gb with the slim and 12gb with the super slim and both same price.

There are some great bundle deals out there too. I don't know a lot about the Xboxes but I think prices are pretty similar. And with PS3 you don't have to pay to go online which I like! Also I feel it has better exclusive games. They tend to debut a tad more expensive though but that's just retailers taking advantage of the market.

There's been no official announcements for either yet. Leaks are starting to come out regarding the next generation xbox, it's expected next year, some rumours are saying spring, others say it'll be closer to christmas 2013. There's less information about the playstation offering, you'd expect that they'd release the same time to be competitive but Sony are holding their cards pretty close to the chest if that's the case.

Either way, the current generation is probably going to see support for a year or two more at least, and has a massive back catalogue so there's plenty to play. If you're not one that has to always have the latest and greatest then there's probably some good deals you can get, and preowned games can be gotten cheap.

never make the mistake in buying a console on launch you can garantee youl make a huge saving if you hold on for 6 months the ps3 was around the 500 mark and thats without a game on launch

Thanks for the replies, just had a look through some of the latest deals and does seem quite fairly price at the moment, maybe worth getting one till the launch and then wait 6 months till prices drop

Creating consoles is expensive, and while they will try to beat the WiiU craze (I don't see why considering the issues that it already has) they may rush out the newer consoles by Christmas 2013.
Dev kits are out for PS3 that I know of, but expect the "cleaner" (less errors/issues) versions to be available for 2014.

In laymans terms, you have about a year and a half. Either wait, and try your luck with the first ones that come out, or wait a little longer and get ones that "hopefully" will have less bugs as first gens usually do.

Also to think about:
-Do you want to play online with friends? What do your friends have?
-Do you want to have to pay for online play?
-Which console do you prefer?
-Are there specific games that you want to play that are only available for one console?

Just for once it would be nice if they made them backward compatible on games and peripherals.

I can see the 360 and ps3 still being used for a while yet due to the price it would cost to buy 1 at launch, yes the price would be reduced but not for maybe 6 months to a year.

The first versions are usually backward compatible (the first PS3s you can play PS2 games on) but later versions lose that.

When it comes to the decision of which console... if you play multiplayer then get what your friends have so you can play with them. It's the main issue for me as I like to play with my friends. I also like the PS3 exclusive games like Uncharted and InFamous. The PS4 will have a Rockstar exclusive (heard it here first!) which is likely to be very good.
