Slugs...aaargh

I find that picking them off my plants and chucking them into the neighbours yard helps

Actually on a more serious note, we were riddled with the damn things! They trashed our spinach and sprouts overnight!
The only thing that I found which worked was attracting more wild worm/slug eating birds into my garden. They soon realised sharpish that I'd outsmarted them!
... then the catepillers came! Goodbye flowers! No doubt I'll move out and this year the entire population of butterflies will originate from my back garden... we have thousands upon thousands of cocoons in our flower beds!0 -
oh god, I hadn't even thought of caterpillers ....:(0

Hi,
Not too sure if this is the right part of the forum (if not, I aplogise and please move it if necessary)
Does anyone know a good way to get rid of slugs?
I have tried Vaseline, slug pellets (they go mouldy in the rain) and beer (yuk), does anyone know any other eco friendly way of getting rid of the bliters?
Thanks

Now don't laugh, it is not April the 1st but following link gives a page which, if you read refers to a USA test done to see which beers slugs prefer!

generally slug pellets are not an environmental or favourable option!"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Apparently they hate crawling over sharp gravel so we are going to try that this year around all the hostas. These posts have reminded me that I need to do something today as I have seem some of the shiny slime (yuck) high up in some wall planters. Unfortunately it will have to be the blue pellets as that is all I've got but I'll get some of the Nemaslug. For pots some people put a ring of copper around the top but so far we haven't tried this.0

Get a small torch and some gardeners scissors, go ahead after dusk and snip 'em.0
