Hiya, still new so hope I`ve done this right!
Having recently spent a break in Inverness, thought this might be of use to someone?
We`d left our (lovely) B&B in the morning but our coach home was late afternoon, our rucksacks etc were a pain to trail around with us so we thought we`d try & find somewhere they could be safely left til later. The bus station had a Left Luggage but they were charging £4 per bag we felt was a bit steep for just a few hours (2 rucksacks & 2 bags would have been £16).
However, in the public toilets in the lane off High St (they are next to a charity shop & wee cafe) we found there are lockers available for £2 each and you get £1 of that back when you collect your bags, we managed to fit 2 bags in each locker (so total cost for us £2). The toilets themselves cost 20p per loo visit but well worth it as they were very clean and staffed by an attendant so we knew our bags would be safe.
It meant we could enjoy the rest of our day before getting our coach without having to drag all our stuff around with us. Hope this helps someone xWhat goes around, comes around......:kisses3:0 -
Hi.
New to inverness thread... - just wanted to add many thanks for tips for cheap hair/ beauty. I contacted Inverness college and have booked in for cut and colour - should be around fifteen to twenty quid total. Bargain! They offer cheap hair and beauty treatments to train their students (supervised). I am going on tuesday, so will let you know how it goes. Their beauty treatments are really cheap too. Just phone up the college, ask to be put through to hair and beauty and then they will give you details. They also send you a little "menu" of treatments etc offered with the (incredibly low) prices.:T
Also...the inverness buses are cheap. If you are likely to use the bus a few times in a week, get a megarider ticket - £7 for 7 days unlimited travel in the inverness area. There is nothing to stop you loaning your ticket to your partner or friend to use within the time limit, if you are not using it at the same time.
Check out the cheapo pound shops - some great bargains to be found. I love hot chocolate, poundstretchers sell options belgian choc for 1.49, usually well over £2 in tesco!

I have a friend who works in Jimmy chungs, and all I can say is, after he told me what their hygiene practises were, I will not be eating there again. This is only my opinion, not a statement of fact, so don't sue me mr chung.0

Hi - update on the Inverness college hair cuts. I got highlights and a restyle, and blow dry for £15 - which is incredibly cheap for girls hair. It was a bit shorter than I asked for, but very nice and lovely colour. Only downside...it took four hours!!
My boyfriend tried them for his hair cut - he was very pleased with the "new do", and at £3.50 I don't blame him!:rotfl:

I am originally from inverness and am hoping to move back sometime in the next 6 months or so. I would have to say that for money saving, Christies in drummond street (just up from the back of woolworths) is one of the best shops. I know things have changed but my mam works there and they have alsorts, and most of their stuff is 99p or less (or it used to be). When I move home I am so looking forward to getting all my cleaning stuff and snacks from there, as well as other bits and bobs - also great for back to school supplies!!!LBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:
Current debt levels: OD £3860, Loan 1 £6091, Loan 2 £5052, Parents £260, Total £16133  As at 01 May 2012 - 51.69% paid off :j

Christies is closed now. You've got Poundstretchers on Bridge Street, opposite Primark and you have Poundland (the old Index store) opposite Marks & Spencers in the Eastgate.
Cinnamon is apparently a good Indian Restaurant. They do a set business lunch each day. You can find out more information here...

Marks & Spencers has a good cafe, always busy. You can get a card they stamp each time you visit and have a coffee etc, every 10th drink is free.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0
