just a geeky point virgin broadband is docis 2.something bespobe to the cable network not dsl though i do recall a cisco engineer telling me that dsl did have advantages over asdl as well. regardless virgin broadband tech is vastly superior to any copper phone line solution on the table for the next decade.

10 meg customers will be getting upped to 20meg in the next couple of weeks and that is an actual 20 meg, not an upto, they are trialing 50 meg in kent and i was reading that for £150 per customer they can get the network ready for 240meg down 120meg up.

im looking to move and willing to pay a serious premium for virgin availability, frankly untill bt start running fiber they are the only serious option if you dont want to be stuck gettin an average of 2.2 meg (im sure i heard that was what most phone lines went up to) when hidef iptv starts streaming on demand in a couple of years.
This is what's killing SKY and BT. Virgin will not give them access to the fibre optics and they're going to be over a barrel if they don't get it. Speeds are going to have to get faster to provide a better service & only Virgin has got the capability at the moment.
God made man, man made money, money made man mad
  • Well surprise surprise no one from VM called me back and when i called AGAIN to speak to them there was a 60 MINUTE wait!!!!! So called moorcroft this morning who actually agreed to contact Virgin.

At the moment i am thinking "just take me to court" and i will embarass them!

ive been with them for years but basicly called up saying i wanted may pac code to go to sky and their retentions team droped my package (tv xl broadband and phone) to £27 a month, a month later i got a £10 a month free phone and 300 mins/txts a month which rollover and the previous months get used 1st efectivly meaning i have a constant 600 min/txt balance.

you may not get 20 meg yet, in typical ntl style here is their highly informative regional guide, its not even right as uddingston is already up to 20meg by all account. they geeks on the usenet who had been waiting weeks for the shedual went bezerk lol.
