Fine everything was ok as the inital cancellation had never been recieved????!!!??? THEN on the 30th March they cut me off and tried to collect the box - i said it was a mistake and they needed to reconnect me. After 1 hour on hold - YES 1 HOUR! they said they woudl do so - only for the little oiik who had disconnected me to phone and say he wasnt doing it as he wouldnt get paid for it. Had to re connect VM. And they are also trying to take me to court for money i dont owe them and they admit i dont owe them.
My advice - get out while you can. Nothing is going to give me as much pleasure as cancelling my contract with them this week!!!!!
In your opinion. I have nothing but top notch service from Virgin Media. I spoke to a chap in retentions as I was also moving house and wanted to renegotiate my deal. I quoted the 3 for £26 with Sky and he offered me 10Mb broadband, Free evening and weekend calls AND XL Tele package for £26 per month!! YES £26 PER MONTH!
So make sure you ask to speak to retentions as they WILL match sky and as a bonus, the broadband is DSL not ADSL which means you will actually get 10Mb speeds and not the awful slowdown at peak times as with ADSL via BT line.
All in all...

hahaha, your like a little lamb to the slaughter. If you think VM is bad, thus moving to SKY, you 'aint seen nothing yet. :rotfl:I cancelled VM on 8th March and and moved to Sky/BT/Be. VM service still live, and unable to get an answer on how to return the set-top box. Will pay my final bill, then cancel the direct debit - a friend had to fight to get back money they took while they were refusing to arrange for the set-top box to be collected. I just get the impression they're so overwhelmed with people bailing out over the Sky One fiasco that they don't know what they're doing.God made man, man made money, money made man mad0 -

Yeah, good luck with Sky, their customer service is probably about the worse you can get! Probably the worst CS provided by any company anywhere in the world or beyond!0 -

just a geeky point virgin broadband is docis 2.something bespobe to the cable network not dsl though i do recall a cisco engineer telling me that dsl did have advantages over asdl as well. regardless virgin broadband tech is vastly superior to any copper phone line solution on the table for the next decade.
10 meg customers will be getting upped to 20meg in the next couple of weeks and that is an actual 20 meg, not an upto, they are trialing 50 meg in kent and i was reading that for £150 per customer they can get the network ready for 240meg down 120meg up.
im looking to move and willing to pay a serious premium for virgin availability, frankly untill bt start running fiber they are the only serious option if you dont want to be stuck gettin an average of 2.2 meg (im sure i heard that was what most phone lines went up to) when hidef iptv starts streaming on demand in a couple of years.0 -
Well just an update but no one at VM seems to have contacted Moorcroft so they are still taking to court because no one at VM seems able to tell Moorcrofts i dont owe them the money.
Asked to speak to a manager this morning but apparently it will take them up to 8 hours to get back to me!
Totally unacceptable and laughable. My service is due to stop on Friday when i should be moving so that will be interesting - see how that goes. My guess is that it will be a complete shambles like the rest of the time i have been with virgin!:rolleyes:0 -
