  • Ok, I've given in.. I've finally googled 'Sherbet dab' as I didn't have a clue.
    I'd rather have a teatowel.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I've seen the Heinz stuff in loads of shops. I think it's a fashionable brand now, like Marmite's been for a while.

That rather depends on your idea of 'fashion' really.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I am rather tempted by the bottle of HP sauce and the oversized plate shaped in a slice of bread for my DH as a joke pressie.:p

Years ago, on a cost cutting exercise I bought a bottle of un-branded brown sauce, hubby is the only one who likes the stuff. He took one look at the label and decided he didn't like it. So, I bought a bottle of HP and topped it up from the other bottle ;) and for months he ate it. Then very stupidly I told him what I'd done :doh:and then he claimed he hadn't liked it, he thought HP had changed its recipe or there was something wrong with his taste buds, of course he'd never mentioned any of this to me. and to this day he goes on about it.

Last year, one of his presents from me was a pack of 3 coat-hangers cos he's always nattering we don't have enough (we do!). After opening some as a pressie he's not natterred on about them all year, if he gets brown sauce I might have success in shutting him up about that too. :D

Well, yes. Not my idea, but then I'm always told I have terrible fashion sense!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

You should have saved it, we could have done a deal. It would have perfectly matched the 'fake tree trunk holding a set of olive forks with duck's heads on them' that I got once :)

Ha ha ha!! Oh, that sounds much worse than my "lost" cat wine bottle holder.

    .......I want a Micro-Pedi!

Small moan, completely inconsequential in the whole scheme of things. :D

Someone has decided an 'ideal' (their thought, not mine ;)) gift for me, is a jumbo size pot of Basset Sherbet Dabs. Now, I am partial to the odd dab here and there, but I don't want a whole ceramic pot full of them.

Cue lots of heavy hints about diets and not wanting sweets for Xmas but no, apparently I'm still in line for the Sherbet Dabs.

Years ago I wanted a wooden Winnie The pooh pen and pencil set (I'm a simple soul, me). It was cute (and cheap) and just appealed to me. Lots of pointing it out in the Argos catalogue did me no good, I think that was the year I got men's hair clippers. :rotfl:

*sigh*.......goes off to see what else I can sell on eBay to get myself a micro-pedi. :D

Are you all looking forward to Christmas with a calm air of smug expectancy? Or with a sense of impending doom? :rotfl:

I'm not sure I can see the problem here. All I can see is a jumbo size pot of Basset Sherbet Dabs. :j:T:j
    ;)

Perhaps we should swap OHs? Mine is more likely to get me something practical like a micro-pedi!

Ever since the year that I only got one christmas present and it was an iron chosen by ex's new lady to be given to me by the children, I have brought myself a present too! that christmas was one of the lowest points in my life, imagine it 4 kids ages 3-8 watching expectantly as i opened the present they had given me and ....................it was an iron and I never iron anything and being an ex good friend of mine she knew that too! luckily they left to go to their dads house just after that so i was able to lick my wounds alone for the rest of christmas!

Oh bless ya that's awful!! :( You poor wee thing!! At least you get a nice present now as you buy your own!! ;)

We are doing secret santa this year, that's me, OH and 4 sons and wives/partners but choosing something off our Amazon wish lists, should work well as it's sort of a surprise but also something wanted. Price range £10 - £15. Surprisingly nobody has got Sherbet Dabs on their list!!

Tonight my husband has commented on the red accessories in the kitchen, and how the microwave's got some rust spots ... I wonder if I'm getting a red microwave for christmas? :D

Has anyone seen the range of Heinz gifts in BHS http://www.bhs.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogNavigationSearchResultCmd?langId=-1&storeId=13077&catalogId=34096&beginIndex=1&viewAllFlag=false&pageSize=40&searchTermScope=3&searchTermOperator=LIKE&searchType=ALL&sort_field=Relevance&searchTerm=baked+beans&x=0&y=0

When I was in there people were snatching them off the shelves like there was no tomorrow and I wonder what the people who receive them will think. Times are hard for everyone so I can't imagine many people being grateful for this sort of thing.

I like them :rotfl: Beans are an 'in joke' in our household though. I'd rather somebody gave me a tea towel or mug than 'smellies'.
