                    .......I want a Micro-Pedi!
Small moan, completely inconsequential in the whole scheme of things.
Someone has decided an 'ideal' (their thought, not mine
) gift for me, is a jumbo size pot of Basset Sherbet Dabs. Now, I am partial to the odd dab here and there, but I don't want a whole ceramic pot full of them.
Cue lots of heavy hints about diets and not wanting sweets for Xmas but no, apparently I'm still in line for the Sherbet Dabs.
Years ago I wanted a wooden Winnie The pooh pen and pencil set (I'm a simple soul, me). It was cute (and cheap) and just appealed to me. Lots of pointing it out in the Argos catalogue did me no good, I think that was the year I got men's hair clippers. :rotfl:
*sigh*.......goes off to see what else I can sell on eBay to get myself a micro-pedi.
Are you all looking forward to Christmas with a calm air of smug expectancy? Or with a sense of impending doom? :rotfl:

This is why I do not allow people to buy me presents, and if I want anything, I buy it myself.
Otherwise I end up with a pile of useless tat.0 -
Tell the 'somone' concerned to keep the receipt
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

A few relatives have now started asking me to do the shopping for me and my family on their behalf. I choose it and give it back to them to wrap up and present from them. They tell me the budget and re-imburse me. Takes away the element of surprise, but does mean we all get something we'd like.0

Having looked what a Micro-Pedi was ail, I would stick with the Sherbet Dabs:o
HAvnt you got an old cheese grater lurking in the cupboards?
RIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Always in our hearts xxxHe is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.0 -
Is it somone close to you? If so, say to the person - "i hope you're not serious about buying me a load of sherbert dabs - I don't want them. You'll be wasting your money"
If they persist, just tell them, "You're not listening to me. I'd hate that as a present. I don't even know anyone who I could give it away to."
Repeat ad naseum until they get the message.
If it isn't someone close. Just say thanks when ou get it and Ebay it later."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I'm with mrcow. Or could you buy your micro pedi and say something along the lines of, "I couldn't resist it - will you buy me it for Christmas?". Quite difficult for them to say no if you've already bought it.
I don't think it is at all inconsequential either. Someone who is supposed to care about you is completely ignoring your wishes. At the very least that is downright rude.0 -
            I want a Sherbert Dab

I can swap you for a cat or a bunch of moisturisers and shampoos!0 -
Reminds me of my auntie. Everyone knows 'she likes licorice allsorts' so what does everyone buy her for xmas every year... I think she's got enough licorice allsorts to open up a shop :rotfl:
Presents can be tricky, but I like to try and think of what someone might like, or at least make use of. I don't like giving or receiving a 'want list', - for me that's not the idea of getting someone a present. And if somebody gets something they don't want it's not the end of the world, - they can pass it on, charity shop it, or even sell it.
I'm starting to think it might be better if the adults didn't buy for each other at Christmas (bah humbug!) as it does seem to cause ill-feelings as well as a poor bank balance!0 -

No chance. :rotfl:
Although you'd be welcome to the liquorice sticks, I hate liquorice.

I got a USB hub last year from my mum... From the sale bin at Tesco! It's still in its box in a cupboard

She did spoil the kids rotten though
I hate liquorice too! Biscuits are always good (not that I'm not already fat enough
) Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession
